Ukraine Protests

And if I'm not mistaken, Swedish companies are currently a key component (if not the key component) of the US railgun/hypersonic munitions technology.

Sweden was far more pro-west during the Cold War than neutral. Being that they were in the way in a conventional hypothetical WWIII scenario meant their territory was likely to be violated as the USSR went after Norway. So they tended to sway towards the west in most matters.

But you forgot the most important part of the Ukraine being a part of NATO. It will give Ras a plethora of posting material.

Sweden has developed a line of tanks specifically to deal with Russian tactics. but it was a tank that could basically bury itself in the snow, and had low heat emissions while waiting for enemies to show up, making it a first strike tank. S-tank or the Stridsvagn. Point is whether or not the join NATO those states have a history of being ready to fight Russia.

As of right now, there is nothing to gain for Russia strategically with the Nordic states. I see this as a none issue or at most, something at the very bottom of their list of concerns.

Ukraine is Russia and the US's central focus.

And we're going to get it! Gobble gobble gobble!

Concerning Scotland's independence, if they vote to leave it could cost Britain it's nuclear weapons. I was reading awhile back that the British MoD said it wasn't feasible to move the weapons and subs to another location. Still, I think the "No" vote wins out in the end.

Eh? All the nukes are in Scotland, and can't be moved?

There's a battery of Trident (marine) nuclear armed missiles in northern Scotland. Like Burhead, I've heard that there's a big "green," anti-NATO, anti-war, anti-nuclear arms movement in Scotland that has always wanted them out and most likely will force them out should Scotland become independent.

While it has probably gotten us into little squabbles that we could have done without during its history, NATO is the only thing that kept Europe from being plowed into the dirt by a giant commie tractor.

****ty analogy, but I'm just not feeling very creative at the moment.

Seems that the fragile truce is currently under threat from shelling from the peace-loving, pro-self-determination, pro-rainbows across the universe grassroots protesters.

If Scotland vote to go independent they are idiots for one! But I think Trident would either be moved somehow or an agreement would be made, if the Yes vote were to win out, that the weapons can be kept in Scotland under UK control. According to this Telegraph article it would be feasible to move the weapons but it may take till 2028 :Yes-vote Scotland would be stuck with Trident 'until 2028' - Telegraph

But Scotland would be very silly to vote for independence for numerous reasons that I can explain in-depth if anyone cares enough. Maybe there should be a new thread for this topic.

Start a thread if you want. I'd recommend linking an article just to familiarize those you don't know about the situation. I can tell from this post how you personally feel about it as an Englishman, but what's the general sense of this in England?

I agree with you. I don't necessarily blame Scotland for voting to leave should they do so, but I think it will be a disastrous decision on its part.

I can honestly say that I've never seen a man hanging over a utility wire like that before. That was something.

And I wonder how many Ukrainians will have to die before Rasputin finally admits that this is Russia's war and not some sort of Western conspiracy. A lot more I'd imagine.

I'm tired of the apologies. This is sickening. These are men trying to maintain their nation's borders from "grassroots protesters" gone awry.

But, yeah, Nazis, fascists, Victoria Nuland cookies, John McCain, blah blah blah.

One observation about that video is that it's another apparent example of the disconnect between what people are saying and what's on the ground. The video description says:

However, the separatists seemed to have reneged on the promise of safe passage, and several Ukrainian columns were caught in devastatingly brutal ambushes, leaving hundreds dead and dozens taken prisoner.

Hundreds dead? What happened to them? The reporter says he is going in with the ambulances, but we only see a few bodies. Weird.
