But they're peaceful though, you see what looks to be a mobile radar system at the end?

I am sure its a weather radar....you know to help watch the storm fronts roll in and cause flooding, because thats what Ukraine is dealing with, flooding. (a whole lot of blue font)

"First wave of the attack came in disguised as commercial charter flights same way they did in Afghanistan in '80. Only they were crack Airborne outfits." Col. Andy Tanner, Red Dawn 1984

That line ran through my head as well when I typed that last post. Only difference is that it's the commercial flights getting shot down in this one.

Ras, regarding Russia and the "Near Abroad," as they sometimes call it, do you think that any nations immediately surrounding the Russian Federation need suffer any anxiety?

After reading and listening to a few news stories today, I thought about this question again. IMO, if you need to really be worried about a country that is threatening their neighbors, you need to look at some of the trouble that China is stirring up. The Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, and Taiwan are all gearing up for some kind of Chinese agression. Where Russia is at least trying to offer to work with its former states, China is itching for some South China Sea land grabbing and doesn't seem to be willing to respect generally recognized borders.

Last I saw the IRC did not know what's in this "relief" convey that it's supposedly organizing. So we have a purported international aid effort with the Russians being the only ones who know what's being sent.

Weird stuff.

If I recall correctly, the Chinese actually pulled their oil rig out of the hotly contested part of the South China Sea about a month or two ago. I think off the coast of Vietnam.

Regardless, the amount of the South China Sea that China claims is absurd. If you look at the international territorial waters along with what China claims, it will make you laugh. Doesn't even make geographical sense.

Folks, the US is sending over "military advisors" to the Ukraine. We may actually have boots on the ground there before long. i mean, really? No matter where you stand on Russia's involvement in Ukraine, please tell me why in the world are we sending troops over there or even involved at all? Why can't the EU handle this? They are the ones that were majorly miffed at the fact that the Ukraine didn't join in the fall. Why not let the EU sort this out and leave the US out of it?

We're sending advisors to the Ukraine, the CIA is now arming the Kurds, we at one time armed the Syrian opposition to Assaad who have now morphed into ISIS, we are supporting Israel's incursion into Gaza, we just had a general assassinated in Afghanistan and we can't figure out who in the hell to support in Iraq's power stuggle.

This is pure madness going on right now.

Because they asked us? I honestly don't know if thats the answer but it makes a **** ton of sense, of course a conspiracy to take over russia could be part of it too.....(just so you feel included Ras) Also maybe because Russia has boots on the ground in Ukraine too (if they have crossed the border yet as part of a 'relief' effort)

For me I am fine with the foreign policy of providing support to a nation as long as they ask for it and we don't volunteer it to begin with. I want to be sure we are welcomed by at least the government before we get involved.

Anniversary of the Berlin Wall today, when West Berliners attempted to shield their petrodollars from the superior Soviet financial system.

1. Along with almost everything else, there seems to be confusion as to where the convoy is headed.

2. I didn't think Ukraine had control of many parts of the border.
