U.S. Navy Not Fit For War

Does anyone still hear about someone telling their son "join the military, it will make a man out of you"?

Pentagon Rolls Out 'Equity' Plan

Defense to Equalize Outcomes for Employees, Partners across Racial, Sexual and Gender Lines

The Department of Defense issued an equity report, aiming to equalize outcomes for employees and partners across racial, sexual and gender lines.

The DOD released its equity report alongside all other departments of President Biden's administration this week. In the text, the DOD explained a series of procedural changes to better align with the White House's demands for "equity."

"While the Department has historically focused on increasing equity within the DOD community, the collective actions described in this plan represent a shift in the Department’s approach and focus to better ensure that we leverage our capabilities to create opportunities for all Americans," the Department of Defense wrote in its report.

The DOD report offers a series of plans moving forward that "will identify potential barriers that underserved communities and individuals face regarding Federal programs."

Equalize Outcomes? That is so commie. Not even going to waste my time correcting this huge font.

Biden’s Air Force Crafts New Mission: Create a ‘Safe Space’ for Cadets To Share Feelings

The U.S. Air Force is instructing its commanders to create a "safe space" in which recruits can partake in "healthy conversation" and "share perspectives" as part of what leaders are calling a "cultural shift" in the service.

The initiative, called "Airmen's Time," was created to advance the "well-being and development" of those serving in the Air Force, according to a copy of a memo obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, which was sent to "command teams and supervisors."

The move is part of an effort by the U.S. military under the Biden administration to alter internal culture. The Army, for instance, has mandated its soldiers go through training on gender identity and pronouns, the Free Beacon first reported in March. Republicans in Congress and some in the military have criticized these initiatives for pushing "woke" propaganda within the service.

Three US Navy Sailors are Found Dead in 'unrelated' incidents on USS George Washington in under a week as rapid intervention psychiatric team is deployed on board

Three US Navy sailors have died on an aircraft carrier in less than a week, with officials saying the tragedies are all unrelated.

The deaths happened on the USS George Washington earlier this month, with two of the three victims so-far identified.

They are Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Natasha Huffman, who died on April 10 and Retail Services Specialist 3rd Class Mika'il Rayshawn Sharp who passed away on April 9, both on separate undisclosed locations off the ship.

Both sailors were 23. The third victim was found unresponsive on April 15. Their identity has yet to be released. All died on the USS George Washington while it was in dry dock in Newport News, Virginia, where it has been undergoing refurbishments since 2017.

Three sailors assigned to the USS George Washington, pictured here, have died in the first two weeks of April in what the Navy has said were unrelated incidents. An NCIS investigation is underway to determine what caused the fatalities

A third sailor, who has not been named was found unresponsive on board the ship, on April 15.

The Navy has not provided the cause of death for any of the sailors.

They should just fold the Marine Corps into the Army and be done with it. It's basically being destroyed from within.

The Marine Corps' plan to redesign the force will only end up breaking it

Wow..purely defensive force.

Defense will be favored over offense. Marines will not possess the type of units and equipment needed to “close with and destroy” an enemy.Infantry will no longer be the mainstay of the Corps; missiles and technologies are to be its strength.Without tanks and sufficient cannon artillery, there will be no basis for combined arms.Marines will not have a mobile, protected, direct-fire weapons system for the first time since 1923.

I just don't understand the why behind this decision.

From my understanding they are to be highly mobile...ie no tanks, and disperse on islands around the Pacific. IOW...we will be the Japs in the next war. Tragic really IMO. Guess we do not anticipate taking any territory

It’s all part of the Navy’s distributed warfare doctrine. I’m not saying it’s the right move.

But it goes to your earlier point, and comments going back some 70 years now - just what the hell is the difference in the Army & Corps?

Long story short - Marines got out of their Armor & Artillery so they could return to the Sea.

The future of the Marine Corps (as long as China in the Pacific is the pacing threat) is smaller, more mobile, hunter-killer teams that can hop around and deploy anti-ship missiles.

That is what SOF is for.

Guess I can see dispersion as a solution though and seems to work in Ukraine. I think in any major peer war, all Big assets will be killed quickly. Munitions with precision just seem too lethal. An AEU would be sitting ducks even with included carrier support. Just look at the Falklands campaign.

Not enough NSW operators to duplicate what we are looking to do with the Marines. Don’t think we want them doing that anyways.

But yes, it’s all about this new push for distributed warfare. It’s why they want out of the Ticonderoga hulls.

You don’t want 1 platform loaded with 150 tomahawks.
You want 10 platforms loaded with 15 tomahawks each.

Not in today’s advanced missile technology environment.

The Ticos are just worn out. Subs, B-21's and F-35B's are where we are headed.

Yea they are, and expensive to keep up too. Congress won’t let the Navy get out of them though, they just see a missile count.

We’re going to see increased numbers of smaller surface combatants that can deploy 4-8 various cruise missiles. Like the new Frigate.

It was meant a bit tongue in cheek, but honestly, that was probably the best use of an old missile sub. Easier to sneak in one boat carrying 154 TLAMs than six or more ships.
Oh i was agreeing, the stealth aspect combined with that payload is probably unmatched. I wouldn’t want one lurking off my shores.
