Tyler Byrd already turning heads

The guy is just a freak athlete. He'd be great on either side of the ball, but may be wise to have him help at WR this year

It's guys like this that make me appreciate CBJ's recruiting abilities. This time last year, we had no shot at this guy. He is going to be a special player for us.

But yet, we still have people freaking out about our recruiting class in mid July. I just don't understand

Imagine a four wide set with Byrd, PWill, Malone and Josh Smith.

Just get them the ball and let the magic happen.

For once, I'd just like to see one of these rating services start explaining why a particular recruit is a certain star rating. Even better, they could explain what Byrd would have had to have done to have been a 5*.

There is no explanation, they are bloggers in the end.
The reason they even hit on as many as they do is the bump.
If a HS kid is doing well, they give a conservative ranking. When a school like Alabama makes an offer, they give the bump taking credit. NOT ALWAYS THE CASE.
Some kids are so special, everyone can see. But the recruiting services are given more credit than they deserve for piggybacking off of true talent evaluators.

Maybe a Adoree Jackson kinda role?

From what I'm seeing on video he looks like he will do what ever you want him to do. The kind of young man that just wants to be on the field and help his team out how ever he is needed, and he has the skill set to do it. His hands are amazing me. VERY athletic build. I bet he sprouts, and I bet Butch expects him to grow as well. Butch knows.

I'd actually give Larry Scott more credit on sealing that deal than Butch.

I don't know who is scouting prospects for Butch but Butch's teams have an uncanny knack for finding the developmental diamond in a heap of stars. Someone knows exactly what they are looking at.

I think he gave credit to Butch for recognizing and wanting the kid, not for closing the deal.
But Jones hired Scott for this kinda thing, so I guess it's redundant either way.
I just know I like the kid.

This article is really based off Jimmy Hyams liking the signing? Did Jimmy just get caught up on signing day?

How great would it be to actually have a freshman come in and have a Carl Pickens type impact? Somebody who is so good that he actually comes in and becomes our #1 WR option and helps transform the offense? I hope Tyler is that type of player.

Get more photos for Rivals at the camps typically will get additional stars added. Other than that not much.
If you attend the camps then you are a 2* at minimum. If they like you at all and you can play then you move to 3*. If mom and dad buy the rivals people lunch or bring gifts then they go to 4*. Photos with a pretty face and .01 faster on the 40 time gets you a 5*.

JMHO

Pickens was great...but he also redshirted his first year.

Many of these kids on here don't know a lot about Carl Pickens, after all it was 25 years ago when he played at UT.
