I’d be willing to bet OSU is the real villain in all of this.
Hartline (primary recruiter) is announced to USF the morning of their signing. Multiple recruits had no idea, felt misled, and opened up their recruitment on that day because of it.
Family already wanted Tennessee anyways. Knows Osu are snakes. This might have been a sore point between them, but Legend has no problem with Tennessee. So instead of having to be rerecruited by everyone he makes his family happy and calls Tennessee and asks if he can get back in. It’s not just about who’s won the most games recently like his OSU flip article suggested. Relationships still matter. And on the day to put pen to paper his relationships with Tennessee came out cleanest and strongest.
OSU, mad that their plan to have hartline leave after these kids had all inked with them, calls and puts on the full pressure, denies knowing hartline was leaving, probably offers him more money, convinces Legend to go back on his signature, and launches a fake tweet smear campaign against his family that the media picks up like a dollar on the ground. And here we are. The question is does legend bey continue this effort at the expense of his family or does he cast it all aside and stick with Tennessee…
My thought is someone will have to break the silence. But then I think actually the best way to save face for all involved is to just not talk about it. Don’t throw your family under bus. Don’t flip back to Osu. Play the first year at Tennessee and let the story die. If the story doesn’t die it will be OSU showing their real colors. If you still want to go to Osu, transfer there in year 2.
