JG is worse now than he was back then. BM and JT are probably not SEC QBs either.

Our best and only true QB was hurt by corona
Not sure I agree 4 games into the season with a ways to go...but that is quite the indictment on the staff. Dang

More talent - check
QB - ok we’re not covering that
Everywhere better - I don’t think so

I’ve certainly seen some improvement......but I also “certainly” see inconsistency.

I would hope we see things “consistently” improving; however I don’t see much of anything which has improved from the later part of last season.

There’s still time for improvement, and I think some will come.....however I’m really hoping for some consistency.....uh.....good consistency.

When the offense shows up and competes for 4 quarters, the defense seems to excel. In the vast majority of the times, Vols win, a close one or going away, hence the winning streak. When the offense collapses the defense can't take the weight. They just don't have the depth and talent to do it yet.

Somewhere, somehow the offense needs to learn to compete when it counts, which is weekly in the SEC. Last week they didn't but just serves as an example.

I’m thinking of it as the team Pruitt inherited vs the one who will take the field tomorrow
The one who takes the field today will likely get boatraced in a way the 2017 didnt...but yeah..its all the QBs fault.

I feel for whomever follows JG...of course maybe some eyes will be opened..

The pundits can yell and holler all they want, but I just got a few comments. I am a 73 year old , "old man." Been watching the Vols since around 1956. Lots of experience with several coaches. Outside of a reliable quarterback coach (at the present time) I personally think, given adequate time, Coach Pruitt will return our Vols to a consistent winning program. Lets be real honest...............this program was at rock bottom for a long time. Not even relevant, as contenders for many years ! Instant gratification is what we all want, however, in today's world it doesn't happen. WAY TOO MUCH PARITY IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL to dominate like the Vols once did. In closing let me request just one issue........please give Pruitt adequate time to return success. We cannot obtain any form of stable progression until we are patient. Changing head coaches every 4 or 5 years just adds to the decay of our program. Players are looking for stability in a program ,just like they are looking for a winning program !!!!!!

Several other positions seem to lack consistency. The O line and RBs look boss sometimes and others it’s just meh.

Special teams is hot garbage. We can’t cover a slant route. Only like seven QB hurries and a couple sacks all season... etc etc.

With all that said, we are playing an all SEC schedule during a pandemic. Soooo maybe he gets somewhat of a break but I feel like we should still be further along.

A year ago none of us blamed the overall quality of the roster on Pruitt. We all knew recruiting takes time. QB recruiting takes even longer because everyone is recruiting their QBs 2-3 years in advance. Makes it hard to blame him too much for Shrout and Maurer. Given his last two (Bailey and Salter) are highly rated, I’m willing to give the benefit of a doubt.

But QB play next year has to be drastically improved. If that means we take a transfer, so be it.

Depends on what you mean. Bryce and Alontae aren’t better than they were as freshmen, but they are better than what we had in 2017.

LB, despite Tootoo being extremely good, is overall maybe worse than when Pruitt started.

WR is clearly worse. Tight end is worse.

RB isn’t better. QB isn’t better. Safeties aren’t really any better.

OL is probably better, but not nearly where it should be and still not close to living up to expectations based on recruiting.

DL is probably the unit he has improved the most, but I’m not sure how much credit to give him. He fired the guy that really oversaw the improvement, looked at one replacement candidate, hired him without an interview, made him co-DC and overpaid, and finally fired him after four (or perhaps less) games.

Really feel TE are not as good (however not great in a long time) and special teams are a little less effective.

Hurd, Kamara, and Kelly were all a good bit better than Chandler. Three years in and we still haven’t clearly supplanted Butch’s worst RB. And from what it sounded like, Pruitt wasn’t even really high on Gray and took him mainly because we missed out on so many other RBs.

Best poll I have seen on Volnation and it really makes you think. I picked True. Defense is definitely better which was what we expected from Pruitt. Butch's offense with Dobbs was definitely more affective but it was not due to an excellent gameplan, just a reflection on the athleticism of Dobbs. But if you compare to Butch's last year, 2017, we are definitely improved.

Still a team hovering around .500 which can't stay within 20 of the big boys so I'm not sure it matters much if they can't put it all together.
