Troy Calhoun (merged)

For one year MAYBE. WE won't lose them all. 5 of them are stuck and Bray is a huge piece. You gotta have a qb. Next year will stink, I might give you that. But he will start to recruit and build a solid team and the man appears to have class. I would like to have a coach right now who doesn't act like a brat.

Have you seen Tyler Bray? Florida's defense would literally break him in half if he tried running that BS option against them. We would be more of a laughingstock rolling that garbage out than we are today.

Probably the least "sexy" choice besides Cut, but I've heard he was Hammy's 2nd choice behind Queefin...What Offense does he run? The recruits have voiced their opinions about him, all negative from what I've read. I don't think it's the direction to go, what about you?

good to hear he's out of contention. i only pray it's true

This talk of the Triple Option being a gimmick is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I guess Mizzou didnt have time to prepare for Navy this year. Give me a break. I don't give a crap what offense you run, if you don't nail your assignments and have proper match ups then you're going to lose. Air Force annihilated Houston. Embarrased them. Navy crushed Missouri. Ga Tech won the ACC. Stop with the Gimmicky offense BS. If all it takes is time to prepare for an offense, then every offense is a gimmick. By the way, I doubt if Calhoun comes he'd run it. He might run some form of option close to the goal line....no more of a gimmick than the Wildcat(pretty much a single wing which is supposed to be out dated).

None of the EEs are "stuck," if they're willing to sit out a year elsewhere. That's exactly what I would do if UT hired Calhoun.

I don't think Bray would be left with any choice. If he wanted to have any hope of ever seeing an NFL field, he would have to go somewhere than ran some semblence of a pro style offense. Sitting out for a year would be a small price to pay in that regard.

And then proceded to get demolished by a HORRIBLE Iowa team the Orange Bowl.

If we can't get Troy Calhoun then I'm officially interested....I agree about the triple option vs. other offenses, we can't judge the guy by one stop. With that said, I was shocked he was Hamilton's #2.

What's your point? Navy beat Missouri. Air force beat Houston. Ga Tech beat Va Tech. Ga Tech beat UGA last yr. What is your point? Iowa came to play and was a better prepared team. That's football.

when was the last time Navy beat SEC caliber competition? ga tech beat georgia last season, but then proceded to get steamrolled by LSU in the CFA bowl, and get beat by a horrible georgia team this year. the triple option is however capable of beating miss st. and vandy, so that would be something to look forward to.

When was the last time Navy had the talent that we could get at tennessee? even the talent that we have right now? Different situation. Paul Johnson's georgia southern teams couldn't have beaten a georgia tech team (well, maybe).. but he won the ACC this year.

**Random fact** My best friend's dad played for Paul Johnson at avery high school in Newland, NC back in the day.

But yeah, before i even started looking through this.. he was an NFL coordinator. I missed those years when the texans ran triple option.

And big time talent will not be lured to play at any school that runs the triple option. The top players in the country are looking for a place to refine their skills and prepare for the NFL, and running the TO basically dooms that hope in this day and age.

Big time talent will be lured in by good recruiters and running a solid program, the wins will come later (wonder if anyone catches that, i'm kidding)

People have won with the option before, i'm pretty dang sure... And that plus a stellar defense might give teams fits. Who knows? Real good running backs/athletes might want to come to a school that runs the ball every play... AND play for a coach with NFL O.C. experience.

The funny thing is that the leading receiver in the ACC plays for Ga Tech.

By god you're right. I thought i could catch you on the fact that it was just cheap "yards per catch" stats... My deepest apologies.

46 catches 1154 yards 8 tds 25 per catch

demaryius thomas, have a year son.

Exactly...this is what makes me so angry about these blanket statements in regards to offenses. Guys will go to a school that fits them. Ga Tech may not produce the NFL quarterbacks, but you better believe guys like Tebow would have done just as well in the Triple Option. It's how much exposure you get and what you do with it when you get it. If you're a running back, why not? And as it turns out, receivers too.

"We're gonna have you, a huge back... and two fast backs... and you're gonna be involved every single play. And you'll make defenses hate life for a few hours every saturday. Come play here?"

some of you triple option haters need to replay the mississippi game - maybe it's not true triple option but if you look around at the landscape of pro and college the option is everywhere and growing into hybridized playing styles. Call it whatever, it's option football

look at auburns offense this year after last... umm look at va tech's fake option runs the entire game.
