Troy Calhoun (merged)

No matter who MH hires I will still support this program.

I've been reading over a lot of posts here in the past week and this has got to be the best thing I have read. We can all gripe and complain or shout suggestions, but in the end even if the man you wanted wasn't hired... we all need to rally behind him.

Not Calhoun guys.

Meeting is set for 3:50 MST and the UT plane is leaving at 1:30 MST.

Smoke and mirrors.

On a serious note, is Hamilton using the UT plane? Or is he flying it all over hell and half of creation while flying commercial to his real destination like he was rumored to be doing during the Kiffin hire?

Because if he's doing the latter, with AV gas being up around $6.00 a gallon or higher, that's gonna get a little pricey. I know it's a drop in the bucket, but hey, that extra cash could go to, oh I don't know, say A NEW COACH!!!!!!

This may have already been posted somewhere on here but here goes. Per coach bio on the AFA site:

"Calhoun is the only coach in the 100-plus year history of service academy football to lead teams to at least eight regular-season wins and a bowl game in each of his first two seasons. His players have also been amazingly successful finishing their academic and leadership responsibilities. The Air Force football team's most recent NCAA APR is an astounding 983 which once again places the Academy amonst the nation's top three in the sport of football."

If he's good at getting the most out of the players he has, as would seem to be the case, what could he do with the type of talent he could get at UT. How many of you would say that given the talent that Fulmer had, numerous players in the NFL, he underachieved?

Well you can scratch him off because I went on Govolsxtra and it said that Calhoun is staying at Air Force.

not calhoun per ESPN tweet board in recruiting section

@ESPN_Others Troy Calhoun just released a statement that he is staying at Air Force.

This is turning in to the job that nobody wants. How is that possible given the fan base, facilities, funds, etc.? Is it the timing? Recruiting challenges (3 weeks till NSD)? What gives?

This just keeps on getting better and better.....

This is really sad and frustrating. Muschamp, I can understand. He is getting paid 7 figures to be an assistant (with a HC job waiting). Calhoun would rather stay at the AFA than coach at UT? That is freaking embarrasing. We need to embrace Kippy and move forward. Hammy, please stop. Hand the keys to Kippy and be done with it.

I think no established Head Coach with integrity is going to take a new job this close to NSD. He would be guilty of the same thing as kiffin.

Do we really want someone who would do that?? I think not.

Muschamp was viable because he did not have that constraint, but for whatever reason he turned us down. I can think of no other Asst Coach with the stature to be UT's next coach.

Kippy is the best choice out there, and we should name him HC now. He has all the qualifications we need and is a VOL by birth and experience. He is a great recruiter and motivator, and a man of integrity.

He would be the only black HC in the SEC, which would be a plus for recruiting.

He has more coaching experience at both the college level (with UT) and at the NFL level than most of the "prospects" we are looking at.

Go with Kippy, and stop embarrassing us by begging for someone else to come to UT.

yeah, the whole begging routine and the public rejections are both inexplicable and troubling. happened last time around too.
