Actually Calhoun is a proven head coach...I agree he is very intelligent and could be a serious threat to the other SEC teams...But the big question is can he recruit SEC caliber players...I think he can...I wouldn't be afraid of him being at UT as he would give a lot of disipline to the team...He's a service man like Neyland...Not only that I think he would do it for a long time...He would be dedicated in other words....Just my opinion

He would do great although it would not be overnight as we were wanting. Some recruits would drop and players would complain. The guy wouldn't run the option. He does that because he has a bunch of 2* guys trying to compete. You do that with gimmicks because you can't line up man to man. Personally he wouldn't be my first choice but I think he would be better than most give him credit for.

Trying to prove a point bringing up Lou Holtz as part of YOUR argument?:eek:k:

Who is only coach in SC history to win two bowl games. I know two bowl gamesis not alot by TN standards but this is SC, they only have won four bowl games total!

January 2, 1995 Carquest W West Virginia 24 21 Scott
January 1, 2001 Outback W Ohio State 24 7 Holtz
January 1, 2002 Outback W Ohio State 31 28 Holtz
December 29, 2006 Liberty W Houston 44 36 Spurrier

You are right, although the triple option isn't a gimmick. It requires really smart disciplined players.

1. He is a smart disciplined coach who would bring stabability.
2. Wouldn't run triple option would have balanced offense.
3. Former NFL cordinator who is well respected in coaching ranks.
4. Wouldn't leave for better job.
5. Knows Kippy from Texans and would keep him on staff.
6. Recruiting not a problem as he would hire good assistants.

With Calhoun it isn't about what you're actually getting. It's the stigma that he would bring with him and make a thin team even thinner with an almost total loss of recruiting class. Hamilton already said we're looking for someone that has proven they can compete at a high level and recruit nationally. Calhoun quasi fits the first and does not fit the second. Ohio, Wake Forest and AFA. Those aren't major, national level schools.

Reality of the situation is that Calhoun runs what his players allow him to run. Does the AFA have, or will the AFA ever have a stud QB that can run a West Coast/Pro-Style Offense? Doubtful.
