'26 Transfer QB options

We're in good shape regardless. CJH is a miracle worker with QB's. Mac is here. Faison will be here. Adding another stud is just icing on the cake. I would love to see CJH pick up a proven superstar just so we can see what happens when he's working with premium talent. I don't think we've seen it yet. Hooker was loved by all and deservedly so. But he wasn't elite. Milton and Nico were busts. He got a lot out of them but they both had a low ceiling. Joe was a 4 star and Nico a 5. Both couldn't translate the high school success to college. Show me a proven college QB and let CJH have a couple of years with him.

Okay so moving on to the lower tier QBs.

We aren’t gonna throw around 4mil for a QB. Just don’t see it happening unless we have like an extra 10+mil laying around.

Going after AJ Harris, Tawfiq, Smothers, Cook, etc. those guys are gonna ask for a big bag as well.

Until we open the checkbooks and start bidding and spending big for the good players we are going to struggle like we did last season

Will be interesting to see if we get a QB down the pecking order but with extensive evaluations from HS and weighting production at previous stops. Without any backup I just don’t see us spending huge bucks on our third guy instead of cherry picking a few offensive guys and feeding our new DC’s needs for that transition.

Therefore you might wanna make some prop bets the other way.

We need much mor help on defense imo. Going out and getting a 4-5 million dollar one year rental seems ridiculous to me. Unless it’s another Cam Newton or Joe Burrow and there isn’t a QB in the portal that even comes close.

I would say we get a mid tier QB out of the portal. And frankly that’s all we need. If we had a good defense this past season we likely were in the SEC title game and the playoffs.

No idea who we pursue at QB. Just know they need to have "it" between the ears. They have to be able to make the reads and checkdowns.
