Trade Wars and Tariffs

That’s actually where they should go since they paid the tariffs. Gonna be interesting to see if he try’s a half assed end around and cuts checks to people. And if importers will file a class action suit in response
Saw an interview just now with the small importer who brought the original suit. He said he expects the administration to obfuscate and delay (stunning I know). He did say that no matter what the government says, it would be fairly easy to refund the tariffs to businesses that were impacted. Said the tariff (tax) was electronically withdrawn from them and they should be able to identify it and refund it easily. He shouldn’t hold his breath. I’ll bet Trump doesn’t make it that easy or quick.

Expect a vengeance and retribution campaign against the business that brought the lawsuit. Pedo Pam will get 'em.

Not holding my breath. My company paid about $35k duty on one particular imported batch of catalyst. mid-2025 because our broker screwed up and forgot to slip it into their FTZ as we had it earmarked for a project in Canada. I immediately wrote that money off mentally but my son, bless his heart, went through the exercise of filing a duty drawback claim when we shipped that batch to Canada in August. What do we get from CBP? Crickets besides some BS that our inventory accounting does not meet their standards. Not to mention about $100k in tariffs on a couple other batches coming in from the EU which we are mostly supplying to US customers. I do not expect to ever see a penny of it back. Now that’s not to say I do not support the re-shoring of strategic manufacturing. I just hate having to deal with the greedy, bloated, wasteful bureaucracy our federal government has become.

Have I called you a leg humper, devout disciple, water carrier, welfare recipient, disingenuous, Trump worshipper, long winded? Saying that the cult members directing those comments at me today and saying that those spewing the most are the dumbest ones hits hard. To some of them anyway.

Sorry if you took offense to your words being called disingenuous.

I'll tread on more egg shells in the future.

Small business? 😂

Go to the faces of VOS.

About - VOS Selections
From Google:
VOS Selections
is a New York-based wine importer and distributor founded by Victor Owen Schwartz, with an estimated annual revenue of $2 million as of 2026. The company employs around 12 people.

Maybe it’s just me but that’s a small business especially in terms of going up against the power of the US government.

Yeah that’s part of it but you obviously didn’t read the Faces tab. This isn’t some small family business. It’s a small business owned by multiple different millionaires.

Highly unlikely anyone is running anything up to the SCOTUS without major political or financial backing of some special interest group or another

Probably not. But at the end of the day, I don’t care who’s backing them. $2 million in sales and 12 employees is not big business to me.

There is also another small toy manufacturer in Chicago who sued and won as well. Again a small family owned business, not a DuPont. The point is that these weren’t major corporations that won. (Might be some of those also that sued. Haven’t paid that close attention.)

it would be fairly easy to refund the tariffs to businesses that were impacted.
The left has been saying consumers pay the tariffs, so consumers should be sent rebate checks not any business.

The left has been wrong about everything...think it would get embarrassing.

USSC ruling was silent about refunds. That would take a new round of litigation that can take years over 175 billion in refunds....if businesses raised their prices to cover the cost of tariffs then why should they get a refund? Then they have no real claim to a refund and in getting a refund businesses are simply trying to double the money they made by raising prices and then getting a refund check from the gov't on top of raising prices to cover the cost of tariffs.

On the other hand, if businesses 'deserve' a refund because of the cost of tariffs they paid, then that proves they "ate the tariff" and did not pass the cost of tariffs on to consumers as leftist claimed they did.

$175 billion in refunds compared to the entitlement fraud that cost taxpayers up to $521 billion annually, according to Government Accountability Office (GAO) estimates.

Refund checks are not 'in the mail'

So even you have to admit it was bull 💩 that US companies and consumers weren’t paying tariffs after carrying all that Trump water.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

OMG edited out the AI statement showing you were FOS!! 🤣🤣 here I’ll add it back.

Who has bore the burden of trumps tariffs

The economic burden of the tariffs imposed during Donald Trump's presidency in 2025 has primarily fallen on U.S. firms and consumers, according to multiple independent studies analyzing import data and price changes.
