Trade Wars and Tariffs

Boat? I fly. Boats are too slow and I have no time to wait. Believe we just established personality traits. But please, review 3rd grade World History.
Sounds like you're well read on 3rd grade materials and are itching to make recommendations, but I prefer books without pictures. Thank no thanks.

Here you go, I did the hard work for you.

No tariffs doesn't mean we had unimpeded trade with them.

What qualifies as "unimpeded" trade? If you're looking for "we should be able to export whatever we want in whatever quantities we want and the importing nation should accept it," that's never going to happen. Nor should anyone want it to happen.

How was it? Or did you not finish it?

Don't be obtuse, of course that's not what I mean. I mean countries subsidizing their domestic production to a point they make theirs artificially uncompetitive, unreasonable import bans and failing to even review import permits for approval as examples of some of the impediments used.

Don’t know, passed 3rd grade decades ago knowing what communism is as well as writing cursive. But you’ll be excited. They also have an audiobook. Maybe next year they’ll do a scratch and sniff.
But then you were needed on the farm?

What is an "unreasonable" import ban? Can you provide an example?

So

A gay dude and 4 straight males that are challenged in the hair follicle department ? Thanks again President Trump...??

Then tell me how he's right. I've laid out the math on our scheme with multiple nations throughout this thread. The math doesn't support the idea that tariffs have been a net negative for Americans.

Now, if one wants to argue that we should have totally free trade and do away with all tariffs, I'd be down. No argument from me.

But again, that's not the issue. Because he's listened to Peter Navarro, Trump seems to believe that a trade deficit is an idicator of America "getting screwe." That is economically illiterate to the point of absurdity.
I'm in line with your second paragraph. Your third paragraph indicates a lack of understanding how Trump operates. I'm not saying I necessarily like, but I understand it.

But to say that foreign tariffs and trade barriers are not an impingement to US trade is delusional. I'm not looking back through this thread to see your posts (frankly, I've skipped a large chunk of it), so if you have a couple of examples of your math, I would not mind reading it.

The Chinese are the biggest cheaters in the world when it comes to trade and they've been allowed to get away with it. I'm not jacked up that someone has called them out.

Enticing for those countries around China to get away from their control.
Interesting that the Chinese turned an atoll into an island in international waters within spitting distance of the Philippines and built a runway there. And no one said a word. If the rest of the world doesn't shun the Chinese with this opportunity, they will never be able to do so.

I probably gave too much transparency but if you could see the numbers that I see in my industry and talk to the people that I talk to, you would have a different perspective.
I think this applies to anything. More experience with something gives you a different perspective. I appreciate your transparency.

And so here's the real goal of Trump's China tariffs, straight from the millionaire BILLIONAIRE cabinet member:

“The army of millions and millions of human beings screwing in little screws to make iPhones, that kind of thing is going to come to America,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said on CBS on Sunday.

SIGN ME UP!!!
