Trade Wars and Tariffs

Deflect much love? We're talking about the president and his cabinet, not what some kid in Oregon did. I named names for who is on our bad news bears econ team. Point out the "pink haired trannies" in Biden's cabinet. Made it easy for you:

Your point about Trump's cabinet being less than experts in their fields is valid. They were indeed mainly chosen for their sycophantic tendencies more than for real expertise and capabilities. And yes PRC's technocrats would run circles around them. But it's really laughable to hold up Biden's cabinet as a paragon of competence by comparison.

HELL YES I DO. And so do real Americans. Could a paltry bunch of misfits defeat an oppressive regime and a modern English military to establish a new Nation, with freedoms never seen before? Could the Allies rally to save the world in WW2? Could we survive the threat of a nuclear USSR hell bent to rule the world?

And don't even get me started on your COVID BS. Everyone knows how ridiculous a comment that is.

You are literally the worst kind of person:
Pretend to be smart, condescending without any reason, then when the tiniest blip sounds the alarm on MSNBC, you call to arms the end of all we hold dear and praise a Communist nation. China is a hell-hole marred with a lack of human rights, religious persecution, child slavery, poor living conditions, dictatorship, hunger, threatening military, and a corrupt economy.

You should reflect on your position in the world and readjust your dumbass responses.
Understand your dislike of China, but begs the question: Define "winning" this trade war with China. They are our 2nd biggest trading partner.

They're unlikely to back down... just raised their tariff on American stuff to 125%. This has real world consequences for everyone:

Chinese imported goods now 134% more expensive. This is a TAX that you and I will pay on everything from cellphones to videogames to widgets. Trump promised to bring prices down, yet is knowingly and willfully doing the opposite.

American exports now 125% more expensive in China. Soybeans, computer goods, airplanes, etc. all affected. This will crush our sales there and hurt our American based firms.

So we will all suffer due to this. Higher taxes. No free trade. Sounds very anti-Republican to me.

How does the US "win" here in the long run?

This reminds me of a scene from a movie. Sadly it was a kids movie and I don’t remember which one or I’d post the scene….but….

One guy says “we are screwed!” The second guy says “Hey, I don’t want to hear that kind of negativity “ so the first guy repeats “we are screwed” but this time with a big happy smile.

That’s where I feel like we are at in politics right now.

In short, I'm not sure we still have that same kind of patriotism or selflessness in the USA today. I mean it could change on a dime, such as 9/11, but I worry that social media would undermine any kind of united effort. I actually think we do have the upper hand in this trade war with China because of our consumer base and the state of their economy already going into this thing. We do have a certain amount of leverage.

Honestly, we can't. The Chinese people will live in abject poverty if they're told they need to for the good of their nation. They've done it several times before.

America? We won't being put up with being inconvenienced. Things are about to get really uncomfortable here and then things are going to get gnarly.
It’s called communism.

China isn’t calling the shots. Sounds like they are slowly bending to kiss the ring to negotiate. I know that upsets you and LG.
Sorry, I'm not a citizen of the fantasy world of Trumplandia that you live in. What is your evidence that China is slowly bending the knee? Last I saw they're already setting up channels to run their goods through less tariffed countries to dampen the impact of Trump's China tariffs.

Pretty basic
25% of the world economy wears the American Flag. Too much money, too many buyers.

The other 75% belongs to the everyone else.
They need us more than we need them. As I said, China isn’t calling the shots.

Post a soy boy that says otherwise.

Focus, love, focus.

What is your evidence that China has started to bend the knee? That was my question. I'm gathering from your response that you got none or your reading comp is indicative of your voting tendencies (or probably both).

25% / 75%
It’s basic, I simplified it for you. That’s nothing to do with voting tendencies as that’s the nation as a whole.
