Trade Wars and Tariffs

He's telegraphed his process since the 80s. Part of the plan is that people don't know what's coming.

pay walled, but this probably isn't a good argument.

as my understanding goes his art of the deal is about real estate, not global economics. assuming the same strategy works for both is insane.

just because his process is telegraphed doesn't mean its smart. in this case, its like a coach who runs off his right tackle whenever he is at 3rd and 2 no matter what, and the enemy team puts all 11 defenders to the right side of the offenses lineup. its easy to predict and unless you can adapt you are going to die on it, think Majors.

Hard to play a long game these days. Hardly anyone looks past next week.
I guess that is why it is so hard for anyone to even conceive that just maybe Trump is. I get it. But let's kick him out and pretend that the next man up will be better even though we KNOW they (whoever) will be covered with swamp stink.

I hope he burns it to the ground.

What's ridiculous is your response.

"Look back 40 years. One of Trump's principles is that you probably won't know what he's really up to (i.e. he doesn't want it to make sense to you), no matter what he says during the process."

You: "That makes no sense, considering what he said during the process."
His hands are over his eyes. He won't even consider those stories of companies that have already pledged Billions to come back here. But what will happen is the next leftist that gets elected will raise taxes and onerous regulations and they will all run back overseas. This is where I came in to this particular picture.

That's not what I said .... I said that it doesn't make sense within the context of his administration's efforts to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States by way of protectionism, and it doesn't.

Companies aren't going to invest in long term projects, such as manufacturing plants, amid such uncertainty. Unpredictability is not always a good thing. Trump is unfocused and erratic.
The uncertainty is that they know one of you Marxists is going to get reelected sometime and tax the ever loving **** out of them and pile the regulations back on.

The uncertainty is Trump's own inconsistent messaging and his impulsiveness. He has no discipline. He won't see a long term policy agenda through to its conclusion. He will change course, do some gaslighting and pretend that he just won a negotiation .... and his cult (this means you) will eagerly swallow his BS every time.

Trump 3 months ago : Our economy is being overwhelmed by inflation!

Trump yesterday : There is no inflation!

Trump's cult following today : YIPPEEE!!!!

^^^^ That is called gaslighting. ^^^^

Who are the deranged people here?

eh, I won't count it as a win until those companies actually open up something and start actually employing people. otherwise its just another Obama-esque "shovel ready job", that is promised but never delivered.

unless Trump is able to secure an economy with actual laws that will last longer than his presidency its very likely we will never realize those billions that are pledged.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they want to let Trump argue he “won” so he will undo his own damage.

Him burning it to the ground has so far resulted in wins for China. Xi's on tour touting PRC's stability and and as a 'good partner' for trade. Trump acting like a hyperactive four year old with his decisions isn't doing us any good.

You're just a troll dude. You have kamala in your bio. LOL
American farmers lose market share and your response is, as always classic Republican, selfish drivel ... "Well, that's good for me, 'cause I's like cheap stuff. I mean, I gets that it ain't no good fur them or others, but what's that my concern."

You know what else would give you cheap prices ... American retailers going bankrupt and having going out of business sales. You want that too I guess.

It's amazing how similar his attitude and yours for coal miners and pipeline workers are.

OK

PRC's just blocked import of Boeing planes and spare parts. I wonder how that spare part ban will work for them.
I could actually see that as a net positive for everyone. as SCV said, hopefully it leads to change in the Boeing top offices.
