Total War: Warhammer

Are the graphics identical as the last one?

I believe so, as far as requirements. Apparently they have optimized it a lot better and it can run battles at higher FPS. Looks like they might have reworked some of the lighting as well.

supposedly also it is a lot more stable, no crashes, still some glitches but nothing game breaking.

launch will tell us if its legit.

and of the DLC you bought in 1 will carry over to 2. but some of it may not be available right at launch due to them focusing on release of 2 and making sure it runs first. but it sounds like mods and DLCs will be full blow within a week and combined campaign maybe a month out.

Solid info. Thanks!

So IGN is giving it a 9.1 which would be the highest total war rating since Empire.

it is good. only had one crash and that was multiplayer and likely due to server overload with new game downloads. been playing since 3:30, am. tried all the races in campaign except skaven. got pretty far with lizards. Each one is different and starting location matters of whole heck of a lot more than it did. Kroq gar is probably my favorite character but until the TK comes out he is in the worst starting position imo.

graphics have taken a step up even on the same rig and overall settings. one complaint is the game seems more saturated than it should, but I adjusted some setting (not saturation) and it took care of most of it, so I probably just need to tweak some more.

definitely go loot in the sea and on the land. so far exploring ruins hasn't been worth it. or at least the pure loot locations give better results. pro tip, look for the skulls at sea. so, so worth it.

even between the factions of the same race each lord really pushes a different playstyle than the other, so its not just starting location and enemies making things different. a lot of lords get upkeep reduction for certain units, or give bonuses to them so that it almost doesn't make sense to take anything else, even some where you are pushing low tier against high tier because your lord can make them that good.

the one mechanic i don't fully understand is the loyalty stat they have added to skaven and dark elves, it seems to go up and down at random. they tell you things that will help, but it doesn't seem to be a ratio that I can figure out.

money comes and goes really fast. I went from 125k in the bank to less than 3k in the bank, while maintaining a healthy 5k income. haven't gotten that far but it definitely seems like there will be major powers to fight at the end game amongst the playable factions. and yes you can lose the Vortex, in my lizard play thru I have already started falling behind and it really encourages you to play the storyline without forcing it.

I just wrapped up my last class for the day and I am going home to celebrate my wife's birthday so it will probably be tomorrow night before I can play.

so I put in 19 hours yesterday.

1 thing I do wish is that there was just a normal TW play through of open world conquering. The Vortex is interesting but honestly the open world conquering is just fun and I think it would be great on this too.

Believe it should be coming soon, right?

Got a few hours in last night with mazdamanu (sp?) and had a blast. It's still early but really enjoying this. Battles are more fun too

Finally got to play a bit and in my first battle a Kroxigor snatched up a dirty slave rat in it's maw, rolled around like a crocodile with it, then lifted it's snout up and swallowed the thing whole.

I'm in love.

yeah. they say about a month. but frankly with how complicated 2 is and just the shear amount of stuff going into it I could see it taking longer. but CA seems dedicated.

and Devil, the kill animations and some of the combat animations are fantastic. large creatures actually fight each other now rather than just swiping at each other's feet.

Lords actually dueling each other is amaaaaaaazing

Oh wow you guys got me excited about the fight animations. I'm gonna play it once I get back from work, didn't have the time for it yesturday. So the lords actually duel rather than just taking turns slap at each other?

Yeah. Occasionally they slap and run but for the most part (most battles I've done) it's an epic duel with solid animations

doesn't feel like 4 main factions. this game is intense as it is. feels way more involved than the first ever did.

There is such a great end game, haven't beaten it yet. But for the first time ever playing a TW game I feel panicked and rushed. But not in a "this is dumb number of enemies" way. there is actual challenge and the AI will beat you if you let them. Got to the last ritual, a turn behind Lothern. thankfully i planned ahead and sent my best army to Lothern to mess with their ritual. I am currently about 7 or 8 turns from finishing mine and it is good fun.

usually at the end of TW games I just autoresolve my way through because battles dont matter. in this they do. two or three skaven armies attacking a small town? I am fighting it, because I have to bleed them before they get somewhere important.

even though I do still miss the open conquer format this end game is too good to pass up. actually kinda afraid to finish the ritual and see what happens.

this is by far the best TW game they have done. WTW1 was like 3 or 4 on my list of favorites. this one by far took over the number one slot.

That's awesome to hear. Still looking forward to playing this once I get the chance. Although I worry how they will be able to keep the interest with the historical based games once we take away all the fun fantasy fun aspect

hopefully by giving us a new region and cultures with which to fight.

beat the vortex campaign. final battle is a little underwhelming but not terrible. and yes you can continue to paint the map after the vortex aspect is done.
