Too much ice

I hope you guys would be talking about poor ole Grover, how he didn't deserve to die, etc, etc.

And the correct guys would be saying Grover was a dumbass doing that and would be alive if he hadn't.
??? (Edited: I think I originally misread this.)

"You guys..."

My clear stance has been that:

(A) It's terrible
(B) The shooting looked terrible from the beginning.
(C) I pray that it goes to a grand jury (or at least an investigation from an independent dept, as the nation needs answers for unity and to defuse)
(D) From what I can tell, the guy was making bad decision after bad decision, and was probably stacking felonies as he went.

None of that equates to him deserving to die.

The weirdest thing about this story is the media using Pretti's Nursing photo and significantly altering it to make him look more "attractive"...less skinny, more normal sized head, less pale, more teeth, better skin, bigger muscles...that is a straight up weird thing to do
Ricky, we agree on a lot of subjects but we aren’t going to agree here. That’s just petty. Guessing some of you folks also have a problem with the media running the video of Pretti saying some nice final words and talking about freedom over the body of the dead veteran at the hospital where he worked. Haven’t seen any of you talking about that.

In 1992, I was the managing partner in a cotton warehouse in Cordele, Georgia. We were getting alarms during the night and I was worried about a hobo breaking in, starting a fire to keep warm and burning up 15,000 bales of cotton.

So I decide to spend the night and carried a 12ga shotgun with me. Sure enough, close to midnight that freaking alarm went off. I jump up and go traipsing around to see what was going on. As I was walking around one of the warehouses back towards the office, a police car rolls up with their headlights on me. Two cops get out of the car and order me to put the shotgun down. I could not see them obviously, so I have no idea if they were drawn on me or not.

I did not argue for my 2A rights.
I did not try to explain I was a partner.
I did not try to explain I was on my property or anything else for that matter.

I put the gun on the ground.

They then came on up, id me and we talked about the circumstances. They let me pick my shotgun up and we all went on our merry ways after a few more minutes.

From everything I have seen, Pretti did not in any shape, form or fashion, deserve to die. The ICE agents appear to have overreacted and Pretti is dead. I do believe that if Pretti had really been cognizant of what his sidearm was going to do in ramping up the tension, subsequent risks, and reacted accordingly, he would be alive. That is NOT a defense of the agents, it is nothing more than my common sense saying he would be alive today if he had been better prepared mentally.
So you were given the opportunity to peacefully put down your weapon. How is that similar at all?

And your last sentence is all that matters. Nothing else is pertinent to the conversation and everything else is obfuscation. The agents need to be held accountable for their actions and Bovino and Noem should be fired immediately for flat out lying and inciting after the event just push an agenda. End of discussion.

Pretti, if thinking about the situation at hand, had the opportunity to go prone on the ground, back away, not touch any of the officers, etc. Again, do not take this as defending the officers; not a lawyer, judge, etc and I don't know how this will shake out. Think it was a bad shoot, but legally, some lawyers argue this will go no where, but that does not matter WRT what I'm saying.

It is similar in that I was armed and facing LEOs in what could be a bad situation. I could have engaged with arguments and my situation could have gone really wrong in the middle of the night. I really don't think I would have done what Pretti did in his situation because I would have not lost awareness of the gun on my hip. Again I'll repeat this: just a guess because of the way it went down, but Pretti did not normally carry and did not think about situations that may occur and how his gun would affect perceptions. He would better off alive and arguing about ICE mistreating him instead of about to be buried.

Grover didn’t resist. That’s what made the difference.
In my 20s I was arrested because they thought I was someone else. I was driving a car similar to who they were looking for. They were very physical in that arrest. I completely relaxed and let them do whatever while they cuffed me. It took maybe 3 seconds for them to have me in cuffs.
These videos always have something in common. The people being arrested are fighting it. You’re not going to win and you’re only going to make it worse so let it happen then fight it in court.

At my arrest I heard one of them say to the other. “I don’t think this is our guy” and the other guy said “ya, he went too easy”.

I didn't even know there was a movie about her.

When I was 16 I went the opposite way and did my best to resist, they teed off on me and had a jolly 'ol time until they found out that I was underage which was after they wore themselves out thumping on my head.
