Tonight revealed one thing…

Heupel still has a long way to go before he is an elite coach. I like Heupel, and he has done some good things this year, however, he should have never been considered for Coach of the Year.

The final possession of tonight’s game proved my point. Benefit of the doubt - Hooker just forgot that we could actually kick a field goal. No idea what that whole last series during regulation was about.

Should have never went to OT.
I reread your post….i most definately have zero respect for anythjng u have to say.

You don’t know football I’m guessing. Mostly, because you don’t understand the game of football or you wouldn’t be questioning the play calling of a guy who just broke uts scoring record in his first year.
Yea, because scoring a lot of points over the season shields you from criticism over a single series of critical plays. Once again, understand the argument. Sigh.

I understand what you’re doing bro. It’s not that hard to understand. I just can’t understand how you can bash our coach after what he did this year. Blame the refs. Not our coach. Get the #### outta hear with that stuff atleast we gotta coach who plays for the win. I respect him for that. We scored 45 points tonight should’ve had 60 if not for hooker being off his game. Coach knows how to call plays. You don’t know how to appreciate it.

I understand what you are saying, but why are you throwing deep on two plays, with less than 40 seconds left, when all you need is 15 yds?
Less than 20 seconds. If we had 40 seconds then I have zero problem with it. We needed those wasted seconds.

Despite screwing up the last moments in regular time...which was bad....we got SCREWED in ot by that idiot ref. How do u call forward progress at that point in the game. We got screwed big time. Somebody should find out that refs home address and make his life a living hell. I'm kidding....maybe. He deserves to be fired and never ref again. That was criminal. We did not deserve to lose the way we did....and I'm sick of these pinhead refs determining the outcome of games. It isn't right.

I would be fine to never see a member of that defense wear Orange again. Too painful to watch. Everyone one of them need to be recruited over.
Pretty arrogant thing to say about a group that’s out there putting in the work so you can support a team. Did you put anything on the line for Tennessee football this year? They punched way above their weight class this year. Expectations were ZERO this year!!! Get some reality and stop beating down on these kids

Exactly! Thank you. A meaningless bowl game, should be treated as a meaningless win or as a meaningless loss....

.... but just about nobody on here is doing that.
Bowl wins advance the programs reputation and it does help in creating buzz and recruiting better players and you know it.

Alot of arm chair qbs here..what cjh showed me tonight is he is going to coach to win a game ..he won't be coaching not to lose..and our run up the middle was opening up alot for us ..4th and goal in ot on the 1.heck yea go for it ..Purdue had been bad in RedZone all night ..and our defense held .on there possession in ot ...COACH TO WIN that is what we have wanted .from what we were projected to be to what we was .if your disappointed in this team go be a bama fan we don't need ya

You can't be serious......the play calls were to win the game (unlike previous coaches) and they were the correct play calls (hence the open receivers). We just lacked the execution. For once we aren't playing to lose....if one of those connected it would be a different conversation, one about how Heupel is a genius and unafraid.
1st and goal at the 2. ....in OT was the worst call .. if you already plan to go for it ..you run strait ahead 4 plays .. u DO NOT run a roll out where there is a chance for a loss .. never ... and u don't have our lightest least aggressive RB running the ball in power sets period ..

I don’t have a single issue with OT. I think it was a gutsy call to go for it twice on 4th down.

That’s the truth. We could’ve kicked a fg when up 1, preventing us from losing with a FG. Instead we run and get stuffed. Going for it and NOT converting costs you points and therefore the game. Even the TD to tie the game on 4th and long was a low % play.

Going for every 4th down is like going all in repeatedly in Hold Em. It works every time til the last time.

We’re super awesome in the 1st quarter and absolutely horrid in the 2nd. Is he just good at scheming up a good 3 or 4 series and that’s it? Sure seems like it at times.

You're on to something.
But truthfully that's the amount of time it takes a defense to see and counter what the offense does.
And then we don't throw a new wrinkle at them, so for the whole middle of the game teams begin to get back into the game.

It happened with UF and South Carolina too.
Purdue tonight.

Pitt, Purdue, and Ole Miss should have been wins.
Florida coulr have been.

This defense wasn't deep enough to be constantly put back on the field.

Heupel NEEDS to seriously reevaluate his philosophy. Specifically his views of complementary football.

Geezus! By every count except the VN Elites, this team exceeded expectations and we freakin lost 29 players to the transfer portal. I really don't know what would appease some of you knuckle draggers. This team is the definition of overachievers. I would have bet against 7 wins in August and gladly paid.

Whatever. I can finally go back to the recruiting forum and forget this one for a few months. It's like playing cards with my brothers kids!

Was being facetious... I do agree with you. That was for all of the posters defending the guys sitting out the MCB because it's supposedly meaningless.... guys lke @hog88.

You are a special kind of stupid. Tell me why in the hell would an NFL prospect play in the MCB? What would they gain from it?

One major problem is the running game. When we’ve needed a yard against Pitt or tonight, we hand to a 200 lb running back that isn’t able to break tackles against a stacked line.

And these aren’t SEC defenses. We moved the ball at will against both defenses but couldn’t get the tough yard.
