I don’t think I can look at it without bias, but I think he should get in and I think he will eventually. I did get to see him play quite a few times in Denver and San Francisco.

List all the first basemen not named Lou Gehrig that had a better career.

For guys that have played in the past 20 years

Pujols, Thome, Palmeiro, Bagwell, Miguel Cabrera and Frank Thomas for sure.

McGwire, Votto have arguments for as well

only saw helton play football; at central as i was rarely in knoxville in spring

McGwire no way. I don’t know who that Pujols fella is. Yeah, I’m still bitter.

With the advanced stats (WAR), Helton's two closest comparables are Votto and McGwire and neither of those guys got to play 81 games in Denver. Helton doesn't have the cheating cloud over him like McGwire.
