Not really my style, as I try to avoid cops at all costs, but I like this way more then flipping them off. I've had some major changes in the way I look at life over the last few years and I'm really trying to let go of hate (still struggling from time to time) and embrace love instead. I know that sounds cheesy but that's what I'm trying to embrace and that's what I want to pass on to my kids.

Pre-existing condition! Move along, nothing to see here. Besides, he had a mental illness and was therefore worthless to society. Hooray for saving tax dollars!

I guess the people at the Mohammed cartoon event in Texas deserved to get assaulted by terrorists because they "gave them the finger" and instigated the incident. Are you that blind to the irony? The hypocrisy here is astounding.

I'm not calling any cop block clown a hero. But obviously they have a legitimate point regarding excessive police force if all it takes is a bird to warrant that type of response. And you have the audacity to say the cop block guys are the real problem, or even that both parties are equally at fault? When one party was the only one physically assaulting the other?

That's amazing to me.

Besides he was just violating the guys civil right to sit in his car with his lights off. He deserved what he got.

I never commented or gave an opinion on the mohammed cartoon so no hypocrisy there involving myself. The cop block guys try to instigate and create a story...they record what they want you to see and edit out the parts that make the cop look like they are doing the right thing....Its a bunch of bogus BS and takes away from real problems with police and the public they deal with. Im not advocating for the cop block guys to get their a&& whipped but its like a friend I had years ago. He was very loud mouthed and ran it all the time, He finally ran into someone that beat his a&& over it and I sat back and laughed bc he brought it all on himself. These guys at cop block are the exact same way.

Its not a coincidence that the cop block guy didn't video his behavior that led to the arrest. You are taking the cop block guys word for it that it started with him just casually driving by and flipping a single bird. You must be very gullible today.

My bottom line:

The public should not violently over-react to instances of police violence against citizens of the US.

The police should not violently over-react to instance of citizen violence against police officers.

There are roughly 765,000 sworn officers in the US.

There are roughly 320,000,000 people in the US.

None of those populations as a whole should be judged by the actions of the few. I have a problem with where policing is going in the US but lets not forget 2 things:

- Violent crime has been on the decline steadily since 1994

- Assaults against police officers has dropped from 17% in 1992 to 10% now.

The US is getting safer for the people and it's getting safer for cops.

That isn't without saying there are problems that need to be solved as disciplinary action against cops is nowhere near strict enough and cops should wear body cams 24/7.

But seriously, I've said it before. I acknowledge that there is an inherent danger in the responsibilities that cops have. Those cops need to remind themselves constantly that the sh1t they see does not represent all citizens and citizens need to also remember that if there are 76,500 bad cops out there... there are still 688,500 good ones. But, given GV's anecdote... I'd wager that 9/10 is probably too high of a ratio.

Focus on only the bad elements and don't make the majority suffer.

TL;DR stupid rant from naive and stupid college drop-out liberal hippie that can't open pickle jars

They do and that's one way to do it.

Wear bodycams to document your interactions with the public.

Show you're willing to be loyal to your community over the bad elements in your precinct and turn them in if they're breaking the law or abusing their power.

Remember you have a higher responsibility to adhere to the laws and legal system of the nation, state, county, city, etc that you swore to serve. That responsibility carries with it trust from the public... and trust in the public.

Basically... just don't be an @sshole. Treat the people you interact with and deal with at a level of respect and it's amazing how far that will go.

So their point is proven? With millions of prepubescent kids running around with cameras in their little hands doing childish things and this is the best they got? What about the other 999,999 videos where nothing happens? The odds are literally astronomical. If this is what you point to as success in proving your infantile point then maybe you should borrow 2 bucks from your mommie and play the lottery. Just observing some comments on here and some of the actions of the "cop blockers" I think it would be wise to introduce proper parenting skills in schools.

Parents should play ball with their kids and toss out the Nintendos. I didnt need a cop to toss a ball to me to respect the law or those who enforce it.

What you advocate for is respect and most LEO's dish it out, in spades. However what you perceive and what is reality seem to be miles apart. Basing opinions off of youtube videos is silliness. I guess we should flood YT with every single daily encounter where everyone parts happily.

Eh, if you take it at face value then it's only a cop playing ball.

However, what the cop is doing is he is showing he is an invested member of the community. That is something that many people don't see cops as. They see them as detached enforcers, not uniformed members of the same community, ethics and legal standards as the ones they abide by.

It's a gesture of goodwill from a cop in a time when cops are militarizing and calling their own country a warzone. We need more guys like this one on the streets.
