Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if a male cop would have done this, either. Its something about giving people a badge and a gun that makes them feel like you have to bow down to them.
If I made false statements about someone and then illegally detained them, I'd spend time in jail. She did it and got demoted. She needs to be fired at the very least.

Was just about to post this. Some on VN think cops have to enforce the letter of the law every time. I agree with this cop's attempts to create the greatest overall good, rather than just blindly enforcing the law.
I'd be hesitant to put that idiot in charge of a cash register at the Dollar Store. Forget about giving her a badge, a gun, and authority over people.
She should be fired immediately and feel exceptionally lucky that they didn't decide to pursue criminal charges. Which, as another poster mentioned, would be exactly what would happen to all of us.
