Haha, here it is, I guess. If I'm just now hearing about it, 95% of the US hasn't heard about it.

"When Officers arrived they were confronted by a white female who threatened them. The suspect brandished a weapon, made threatening movements toward the officers and was shot. The suspect was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center where she were pronounced dead by a Justice of the Peace. The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate this shooting."

That's exactly why no one knows about it.

Michael Brown gets air time because there are riots. It's juicy. It's not just cause a black kid got killed. There are plenty of black shootings that don't get much airtime.

You're right. It's because a white police officer shot a black adult (he's not a kid by any means)

I really don't understand the push for body cameras. Too many variables there, "I forgot to turn it on." "I guess the battery died." And so forth.

Here's another article on the same thing:

Lawmakers eye restricting no-knock warrants, mandating PD cams - CBS46 News

Some of the things I agree with, like the assurance life is in jeopardy before conducting a no-knock, but don't agree with limiting them between certain times. I did notice the bill also makes body cameras mandatory in Georgia.

They can write all the bills they want. Until the officers involved are held personally responsible, we will get no where.
Also, we cannot forget the drug war. What would be the need of these no knock raids if we simply ended the drug war? Sure, they'd have their place, violent criminals and so forth. But, raiding a house and injuring a baby over $50 of meth is stupid on countless levels.

I think it's an invaluable tool myself. If something major was missed and the officer "forgot to turn it on" said officer should be disciplined as a minimum. And with repeat problems should face firing or potentially even go to a grand jury depending on the severity of the case. And once there, all benefit of the doubt would fall away from the officer.

I could go with that. Funny thing is, it would benefit the officer involved much more than the citizen, most times I'd say.

Which is not a bad thing at all.

The problem with the bill in Georgia is nobody knows who will pay for it. And some departments are whining about that.

Of course we know the answer to that. The taxpayer.

The current state of technology being what it is, should the officer be required to purchase their own cameras? I wouldn't think they'd be very expensive.

Here is an example.

Apparently you didn't read the reviews lol I especially liked the review where the guy said he had to tape the mount to the camera

Problem is any camera must be approved for lack of a better term. Department standards and that sort of thing. Certain criteria must be present before it can be admitted into court as evidence. Plus amount of memory available.

I'm not opposed to the department making the initial purchase and having an officer pay it off like they do with a sidearm or patrol rifle.

Honestly, I picked the first one that came up lol

I agree with payroll deduction.

I'm all about some accountability lol

I have zero problems with accountability. And that happens to be on both ends of the spectrum as the citizens can be just as bad as the officers you all scream about.

You know what will happen though. Say those do get mandated in Georgia. It won't be long before someone files a lawsuit about the cops infringing on their rights by recording them without permission.

I agree on all points. Shocked?
