I've never thought of you as a dick. You're very solid on your belief system, I respect that. Even if you're wrong lol :hi:

I'm a realist. Something that came from being a cop for such a long time.

I don't agree with everything that goes on in the LE world. But I have seen the debate from both sides.

Have any of you stopped to consider the ramifications from hundreds of thousands of hours worth of video being stored? Can you imagine video surfacing of your mother after she died in her home? How bout those who are victims of child abuse? Careful what you wish for. FOI is a mfer.

I'm thinking the storage should be non-networked and FOI requests should be carefully considered to determine why a person is requesting it and for what reason. A lot of video and photographic footage of crime scenes and the like aren't made public and FOI requests are turned down until the case clears final appeals.

But from an evidentiary standpoint, the video can be the tipping point between a case getting thrown out or a criminal going to jail. In this case, the pros outweigh the cons IMO.

Im aware of when investigative materials are available. But to say things should be carefully considered prior to distribution flies in the face of FOI. I can request any info, video or not, on any case not pending investigation. Some things can be redacted, but it would be utterly impossible to employ enough people to redact and produce videos upon request. Could you imagine LAPD or Hollywoods alone?

As a cop you should know everything you see and hear is not reported. Some things are just conversational. Police will be less cordial, less effective, and more isolated.

My post wasn't meant to insult your intelligence Tim, but rather in case someone else needed to know.

Personally, I think the need for body cameras is at an all time high. Far too many things are being misconstrued and misreported these days. I think it has the potential to see both sides of the equation, both LEO and civilian alike. And also the potential to clear LEO and civilian alike in situations that can easily be inflamed by hearsay.

Good point.

I have never been a fan of machine gun policies. Deal with bad cops and leave the good ones alone.

Maybe they should stop taking pictures of crime scenes as well, then...

Very good point.

I have found that if you make a cop laugh, he won't beat you.

I flirt with the women cops. We just got a new woman dot officer, and damn she's hot. I'd take a ticket from her just to see her up close.
