To Protect and to Serve II

No words...

I saw this one a week or so ago. That guy should be fired immediately. It's BS like this that gets innocent people shot. What if the guy on the motorcycle jumped or put his hand up when the cop ran up on him like that?

Serve and protect...

Did you not catch the out he gave them?

"You can't ask the police to move the barricades, but you accept the consequences if you move the barricades."

Basically meaning "we can't do it for you, but you probably can while we're not looking."

Subtlety escapes many people looking to be offended and outraged.

That's exactly what I heard too.

If its a serious barricade it would be made out of concrete.

Look, the time it took him to try to pass out subtle hints could have been better used to just let the people get the damn cars. Why play these games with clues and semantics? I listened to this again, and the guy asked, "What, moving the barricade?" And the cop replied, "Correct, you can't do that." So that goes against what you just stated the cop was trying to hint at. And the civilian again asked on several occasions if they could move it, not the cops.

Those looking to be offended will be offended. The cop put the disclaimer on "you accept the consequences for moving the barrier when we're not here, but you can't ask us to do it for you." (paraphrased) And also mentioned he can't ask the cops if he can move the barricade. The cop kept saying "we're going to be moving out soon..." meaning "when we leave, I don't care." Funny how the video cuts out without hearing the final parts of the conversation nor the alleged "he said he would arrest me if I moved the car."

Fairly subtle since the LEO can't make that overt suggestion. But you're going to be offended because you want to be offended...

Grow up, Ras. The cop did as much as he could and gave them an out. If you're too stupid to see and hear what he was saying, nobody can help you.

And the YouTube comments on that video are absolutely hilarious. Just shows how many stupid people there are out there to include the two interacting with the cop.

Again I ask, what was the purpose of even putting up the barricade in the first place? Next, why go through all of this? Just let these people leave (whether they take it down or the cops themselves take it down). The fact that the officer was present there indicates that they were there to protect the barricade. Its not about being offended. Its about common sense. The cop could have easily taken down the barricade he put up... that is weak sauce and you know it.

This doesn't look good for the cop and police in general, you are aware of this, right? Why offer even token resistance in a situation like that? Just tell the folks to move it out the way and put it back before they leave or hell, don't even put the barricade up in the first place if it is just there for show.

Were they following an order to put this barricade up?

Good lord you're ignorant. There's no use explaining anything to you.

Have no clue. Do you?

Next, why go through all of this?

Why did those two mouthbreathers continue to engage the cop on scene instead of actually hearing "We're leaving soon" and comprehending what he said about making decisions? You see, intelligent people caught on with what he was saying. Ignorant people that want to argue didn't catch on he was telling them exactly what to do. But continuing to argue with the cop that basically told them they could do what they wanted after he left and delaying his departure kept others from being able to GTFO as well.

Had I been there, as a private citizen of course, I would have pulled those two off to the side and said "as soon as you two STFU about this, they'll move on and you can get your car and leave. But if you continue arguing, he can't leave. So, do us all a favor and STFU."

And I'd hope they would be recording me so the world could see how utterly ****ing stupid they look.

Just let these people leave (whether they take it down or the cops themselves take it down). The fact that the officer was present there indicates that they were there to protect the barricade.

Missed that "we're leaving soon" comment the officer made a couple of times, didn't you? Yeah, I understand you were angry and only heard the Charlie Brown teacher voice as the cop was going on. But the cop said they were going to leave. Of course, they couldn't just walk away while the two idiots were continuing to run their mouths.

They weren't there to protect traffic cones, caution tape and a barrier that's likely going to blow away in the storm anyway. And you really are ignorant to think otherwise. You think a couple of cops are going to sit through a damn hurricane watching that garage?

Its not about being offended. Its about common sense. The cop could have easily taken down the barricade he put up... that is weak sauce and you know it.

lol at you thinking you're applying common sense to this situation. You say the cop could easily have taken down the barricade. I say those two could have shut the hell up and waited the ten minutes or however long for them to leave instead of being ignorant fools who wanted to argue. He basically said "DGAF once we leave" about the ordeal.

Yeah, you're offended because you're ignorant and didn't want to hear what he was saying. And he said exactly what the rest of us have interpreted him as saying. "We can't move it, you can't move it while we're here, but we're leaving soon and you make your own adult decisions..."

This isn't complicated. Yet, those two made it difficult and wouldn't shut up long enough to listen to what he said. Just like you're doing.

Are you adding yourself to the list of ignorant fools that lack the cognitive ability to listen, comprehend and STFU long enough to let the cops leave before removing the completely flimsy traffic cones and driving out? As the LEO implied...

What looks worse? Idiots calling the cops Nazi pigs and saying "eff the Po-leese" or actually listening to what he was suggesting?

Keep up the good fight, Ras. Keep making yourself look like an ignorant ass.

This is exactly how those two acted...

Good lord you're ignorant. There's no use explaining anything to you.

The cops already have an image problem. He would be in far less trouble by taking down the barricade he put up for a few moments to let these people leave as opposed to bringing more negative PR to the occupation as a whole by appearing to be illusive and enigmatic at best (according to you and Grand) or obstructive at worse (according to most other people).

Stop the games and just let the people through. No time is a good time for the semantic acrobatic with cops (if you don't follow a direct order, you could end up dead after all). But you don't need to have people in a panicked state out here on the streets trying to evacuate and you are out here speaking in riddles.

Still poor police work in either instance.

If your assumption is that the cop was being illusive in his answers about the barricade, then that is still on the cop and he deserves the ridicule he is getting. People in the middle of an evacuation are probably not of clear mind to be wanting to perform semantic judo with an armed law enforcement officer.

And if it was required for some reason to put the barricade up (not sure why, but let's say it is) can those two cops go back and tell their supervisor in good faith "yep, we blocked it off and it was up when we left."?

Not giving a hootie darn whether or not it got taken down as soon as they were around the block.

Again, you're an ignorant fool if you can't see just how utterly ****ing stupid those two were to continue arguing when the rest of us (you aren't going to have anyone supporting your stupidity on this matter) saw the officer gave them an easy out. Told them they were leaving. Said "make your own decision once we leave" and wouldn't commit to answering a question the two idiots should know couldn't be answered.

"Hey officer, I know all of you are probably wrapped up in preparing for this Hurricane. Is it okay for me to go out driving 150 MPH down these streets since patrols will be down? I mean, I should know you can't answer, but I'm so ****ing stupid I can't understand why you won't give me a direct answer to my question."

The cop is getting ridicule from ignorant people. Are you adding yourself to that list?

"But I can't grasp the concept behind why he wouldn't tell me ON CAMERA to just take down the barrier once I'm gone!"

Did he need to draw a freaking picture?

Yes... even if they let these people leave. The cop had time to let these people leave and still restore this bogus azz barricade in the time it took him to play word games with these people trying to evacuate.
