To Protect and to Serve II

Yes it was serious. You do away with the police and military the last thing you'll be doing is living in peace.

That's the narrative, isn't it. Recall I did post that I'm not opposed to a defensive military. I'm ok with the current model under our current paradigm. However I would prefer to move to a more private model, eventually.

I think this has about run it's course. I appreciate the civil discussion. Rare here. Hope the rest of your day is good. :hi:

Lincoln was able to finance the Civil War debt free. How did he manage to do that?

Did he have multi million dollar air planes? De he have nuclear submarines? Did he have multi million dollar tanks? Did he have satellites? Did he have much of anything other than men with muskets?

Comparing a civil war military to a modern 21st military is like comparing a ditch in your back yard to the Grand canyon.

Wait, you act as though our military is being used for defense right now.

Since when has our military been called to duty for defensive action against a country that attacked America?

Never said that. Go find it. The discussion was about whether we needed any military.

Your problem is assuming that our need for an income tax is based on the needs of our military. The income tax had nothing to do with funding the military. It had to do with paying interest on money borrowed from the Federal Reserve. Remove the Fed and some of these social programs and we would be able to support a (defensive) military quite easily.

Experience man, experience.

When I walk outside and water is pouring from the clouds, I don't need a weather man to tell me it's raining.

Yes, we are all familiar with your story. However to take the story and then use it to determine most crimes committed are done so because of drug addiction is absurd. That's now how we determine a fact.

I'm sure next up will be "my cop buddy told me so" But again, that's now how this works. You made a huge claim and I want you to back it up with substance.

Didn't you just tout the fact that the gas tax pays for roads. Is that good or bad? Is it an acceptable level of theft? Also, you never addressed prisons, the criminal justice system, etc....

I didn't necessarily tout it as a good thing. All forced taxation is theft.

If there is a demand for prisons, or private protection agencies, the market should handle it. The same with a court or arbitration system. Of course this assumes that the American people finally realize who the real criminals are and reduce the current market demand for government. In other words, Americans aren't ready for real freedom.

Minuscule, but it's all basically alcohol.

I just heard today that 4 out of 5 opioid addicts started with doctor subscribed drugs. Last year doctors subscribed enough opioids to treat every single adult in the US for 3 weeks. I think they also said that most heroin addicts started with doctor subscribed opioids.

Do you think opioids should be available for purchase by any adult without a doctor's prescription?

If Walgreens wants to require a doctor's note to acquire any drugs on their own, I don't have a problem. If the Fed's require Walgreens to require a note, then I have a problem. If the state of Tennessee requires Walgreens to require a note, not great but less of a problem than the Fed's requiring it.

I also wonder if opiates being the crises d jour has anything to do with marihuana legalization and make work federal agencies knowing what side of their bread is buttered.

You know what they call the entity that handles the free market demands that reach across a whole society? Government.

I think the cave men tried out that real freedom concept a few thousand years ago. They evolved. Study world history and find that society that functioned and thrived without government.
