All assault victims are protected under this law, criminals, doctors, lawyers, kids, and yes police officers.

You can argue if the law is necessary or not, but there is no reason to exclude officers otherwise, who are ALSO human assault victims, and get assaulted while working more than any other profession (with healthcare workers right behind)

Because dogs can sense fear and threats and the cop provides both of those things in abundance.
