'27 TN RB David Georges

Why should he be on paper? Because he "probably" has a better NIL deal than the others?

I will say, I've expected more out of Lewis, based on his speed and some things we've heard; but, on the field, he hasn't really impressed me much. I believe we should go 2 backs from here on out, with Morris (if healthy) being the 3rd back off the bench. Won't say Lewis can't come around...just so far, three other backs look better, imo.

I want to land Georges, too; but, in no way do I believe its an indictment on Sims if we don't. We led the SEC in rushing the last two years, and RB play so far this year has looked pretty good. Believe we went away from the run too much against UGA.
Yes. It’s important in this era when the rankings heavily influence how much players are paid before they really see the field. A team needs to allocate every dollar wisely.

It‘s not an "indictment" on him if we don’t get him, but I wonder how much more he needs in his favor to land the top guy. Plays a short drive away. Unique background with friends from same background at Tennessee already. Didn’t we host Hiter more than any school and basically everyone thought we had him? We don’t have a RB signed this class. Depending on the portal is frankly a gamble. I’m fine with RB production this year and I don’t think a position coach necessarily has to be an elite recruiter to be a great coach. But I like to know where our elite recruiters are at.

First, I have no idea what Lewis' NIL deal is, and I have no idea what it compares to the others.

Second, I could get more on board with what you're saying if it wasnt OSU. You're talking one of the three best programs in the country. That itself alone can cancel out ALL of the positives you laid out, going for UT.

We did host Hiter more than anyone. I thought we'd land him, was shocked we didnt. However, Michigan won the NT just two years ago, and has beaten OSU the last 4 or 5 seasons. Stuff like that goes a very long way, just like sucking for over a decade does. Some want to believe the stench of suck can go away easily, but it doesn't. We need to win the SEC Championship or National Championship to be TRULY considered in that top tier league with a OSU or Bama or UGA. We're right there, knocking on the door...but, I dont believe we get in until we win a championship of some kind, or are consistent playoff players.

Lastly, I no longer look at the portal as no bigger gamble than HS signees. Elite talent both places, and we are VERY GOOD at spotting it in the portal.

Eh, we’re a contender now. Beat Bama 2 of 3. Make a kick and beat UGA. Shockingly nega from this crew.

Win the elite recruitment and maybe it gets you over the top.

We are good at spotting portal talent when it’s available. The availability of a guy you can land and pay is what’s not guaranteed.

Honestly I’ve heard every version of y’all rabidly defending the staff. You’ll do it until the wind blows a different way. I think Sims is fine but I don’t think he’s elite if we miss on the elite RB two cycles in a row, esp in this case with him down the road.

Those inside the program tell me that, as of today, its OSU then UGA then Vols. Not sure what separates the top 3 but the ranking of these 3 is well known by the kids playing with him. Hopefully we make our way to first before he commits. He is not only the best RB Ive seen in person but dominates the game more than any positional player Ive seen in High school.
If he just wants to win, those teams have done it consistently recently. Though I think this season we could make a case as good as with of them there, and on the rb front. We’ve put our last 3 starting RBs in the league and none of them were of dgg caliber. He could win a heisman here.

My original intent was not to defend Sims. It was to ridicule your logic that missing out on RB1 two cycles in a row would make you question a RB coach.

Sims may not be elite and also your statements can be absurd. Both can be true at the same time.

Unless my question was whether he is elite, in which case you just backed me up. Which it was, and you did.

Except I said he “may not” be. Didn’t say he definitely was not. We don’t know, and won’t know just bc he doesn’t (if he doesn’t) land RB1 in consecutive classes.

Again, that’s an absurd standard to judge elite.

What if he lands a top 10 RB?

But this only speaks to cruitin. I’d say DSamp’s and now Bishop’s development have been elite.

Name one thing that would indicate he’s an elite recruiter.

I don’t have an issue with production at RB in general but you can’t put Samp’s development on a guy who just got here before his last year. Maybe Bishop but it was pretty clear he was underrated early.

Look, y’all have done the same thing for years, with every staff here. It’s tedious and I’m bored with it.

You wouldn’t have said Pope was an elite recruiter until recently I would assume? Sometimes a coach needs time to start building relationships early. You see that paying off now with Pope. Same thing could happen with Sims.

Pope landed a blue chip in every cycle but his first I believe. The first was Leacock who didn’t pan out but Squirrel also that cycle.

There are other ways for Sims to have a successful cycle besides getting this kid, I can grant you that.

But again if we have everything in place again to land the top guy, and don’t, I don’t think that’s a sign of an elite recruiter. And it’s not unfair to assert that. But do your thing.

edit: Webb and Squirrel in first class, Leacock second

You're not too bored with it...you haven't been able to stfu about it for 9 hours now.

Big time battles like Hiter almost always come down to money, and it was widely reported it ultimately did. So you're saying that if that happens again, that Sims should be blamed? I doubt Sims makes any kind of decision on how much Tennessee spends on RBs. We've got money but we don't have Ohio State and Michigan money. Not Sims' fault. Look at the RB room! Why are you even being critical of Sims right now? It makes little sense.

That‘a because you always come in 4 hours after it’s done to pile on, with the same old same old. Marco isn’t usually as bad as you and Josh. You ride the board’s prevailing sentiment and can’t wait to gang up on whoever doesn’t. You’ve been doing the same thing for YEARS. Idk how tf you’re not tired of it.

You’re trying way too hard to create an argument against Sims that isn’t there.

Because life is nuanced dude. I can call Pope an elite recruiter and still say his guys have too many drops. Not many would pearl clutch over that I don’t think.

i can say the RBs are playing well and also say Sims seems to not have the gravitas on the trail of a Pope or Chop, or Inge.

It’s helpful to be able to be a fan and rational, simultaneously.

It seems you're arguing something I did not say. I never said Sims is a good coach so we should ignore that he's a bum on the trail. (which he's not) I said it's dumb to blame him for missing on a guy when the reason was money.

Squirrel was a 3* ranked 545th in the country in 247 composite.

Webb was a 4* but ranked 310th.

Both of those guys were in the class before Pope was hired.

Leacock was 76th but not a top 10 WR (Pope’s first class).

He did land MM and Staley in Y2.

Sims was named RB coach Feb 2024. He landed Duane Morris 4*, ranked 419th in country. Baker the other RB he has landed was a 3*.

Tough to judge his recruiting acumen off 2 recruits. Interested to see how it goes moving forward.

I was gonna wait until the end of this DGG recruitment before I judged. This isn’t really a criticism I’m even leveling right now in this current moment.

You havent a clue who I am, gonzo. I havent piled sh!t today. All ive done is ask you a couple of questions about Peyton Lewis, and add some statements to your replies...even going so far as to say I could get on board with you. To hell with that, though...don't want to be on a bus with a driver who forgets where he's going.
