'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

You got me. This thread is the height of intellectual debate and I should treat it as such. Please take me under your wing and teach the correct way to address these titans of philosophy.

Here’s how you do it: people can be pissed. They shouldn’t wish him bodily harm. If they don’t do that, no need for chastisement. The end.

If he has NFL aspirations, he's going to go to the school that gives him the best chance of making to the NFL.

Georgia is in the CFB playoff in Smart's second year, and Sam Pittman's coaching of the OLine has a lot to do with that success.

That's just the reality of where UT is right now.

A very talented roster full of upperclassmen also played a big role in Smart's success. He just picked up where Richt left off. This is why I don't think we should give Pruitt as much slack as we gave Jones. Pruitt is walking into a much different situation (with a lot more talent) than Jones. I'm not saying playoffs by year 2, but I think we should be in the thick of things for the SEC East.

Your argument being what, exactly? That you’ve determined precisely where Tennessee football is to fall on one’s heiraechy of interests/passions (despite you posting a heavy amount on this forum, implying a strong degree of passion in your own right) and the only acceptable way in which to opine about said interests/passions?

You’re a joke, dude; perhaps you’d fare better on the IASIP subreddit.

With regard to my argument, you're not capable of keeping up with the on going discussion, apparently.

Calling me a "joke" doesnt make many of the things said about Mays okay. It's simply a way to try to silence someone that challenges your ideas.

Trey Smith came to Tennessee. You think he won't be an NFL player because he came here?

The NFL excuse is weak. If you're good enough, you're going to the league no matter what school you end up at.

This decision just exposed Cade Mays as a front runner.

Go back and watch a few Georgia games from 2016, and watch Jacob Eason scrambling for his life, and then watch the highlights of 2017 where Fromm has a year and a day in the pocket most of the time.

Pittman is building an 'iron curtain' of an oline.

It's comical watching grown men try to rationalize a character flaw in a kid for making a college decision.

I really wonder how many people in here have ever actually ever had options like Cade Mays just had.

If I understand you correctly, I disagree. The privilege of posting on a privately owned message board allows me to disagree (chastise may not be the right word) with anyone, regardless of their opinion, so long as I do so within the bounds of the established rules.

Quoted for acknowledging there are rules

You are showing your lack of football knowledge again.

One good olineman, is just that, a good olineman. You need five good olineman that have been coached well to make a good oline. After watching UT's oline the last 5 years, would you take a chance on your future to come to UT, with a brand new first time head coach, and be coached by Will Friend instead of Sam Pittman?

I don't like his decision, but I understand the logic behind it.

Cade,

All the sweat dropped on Tennessee soil, the coaches who taught you, the talk that went on about your success, how proud the town and state was to have you on our side.

All I can say is that you will learn soon that there are those who build bridges and those drive on the ones already built by someone else. Remember where you came from, The Volunteer State and we will do just fine.

what. a. traitor.

pops must be proud.

btw... i knew he wasnt signing with UT, but to see him go to a rival is just sickening. ZERO respect for how this works.

Not to mention, their Center breaking Shy Tuttle's leg a couple years ago took the Rivalry to an all time high for me. I still can't believe they had the audacity to put that son of a bitxh's face on the tickets the year we went to play them following that injury!?!

Goodness...don't wish ill on the kid. Flatten his ass in Neyland every year he plays. He never was the be all end all of this team. I honestly don't think he is going to like lining up against fellow big boys in the SEC, but that's his call and he can live with it.

Yes, you are soft if you’re going to chastise a “felllow” (quotations because, again, I’m implying that you’re not a true fan; deal with it!) Tennessee fan over a quick quip on a message board regarding ACL injuries.
It wasn't a quick quip. He followed it up with "wishing him a Ryan Shazier type injury", that thankfully was removed. Wishing injuries on an 18 year old kid for his school choice is the pinnacle of classlessness.

Particularly for those of us who are alums, it is embarrassing to share a "fanhood" with people who would do that. But considering your name, it speaks volumes that you'd defend him.
