'20 TN DE Jay Hardy (Auburn commit)

I thought McCallie was a private school ? I called my uncle who lives in Chatt and asked him, "What's up with these Chatt kids not showing any love for UT?". He said it was weird down there with all kinds of PuppyDawg fans and Bama fans to go with some Vols fans. But, he did say McCallie was a private school that Ted Turner (yeah, the WTBS, CNN and Jane Fonda, Turner) went there and they do give scholarships to ballers
Edit: Added a line item.

I hope going forward none of you put ANY stock into a kid being labeled a “silent commit”, as it means nearly nothing regarding which school he’ll be attending. These kids “silently” commit to several schools. They know if they promise they’ll come they’ll continue to be coddled and treated like celebrities till they commit. These kids love attention.
Amen, it is just as reliable as it would be if a girl silent committed to going to prom with you.

To much competition in front of him I guess. I’m not sure about these kids these days. The depth chart is deep with seniors next year and I guess he just doesn’t want to get red shirted. This one is just like a lot of them these days. Homegrown talent, families are fans, family member an alumni...It doesn’t matter it basically comes down to NOW....what can you do for me NOW...Forget loyalty and Traditions...Playing for the State Team as you players talk about...It’s NOW !

Tennessee is a great football school. We've got great coaches. We are winning.

You don't like it? Get the hell out.

You wanna defend another school against us? Get the hell out.

You have something else to say? Don't "waist" the effort. Because it probably won't be received very well. Have a great evening.

Auburn is a great football school with great coaches and they are winning.
UT is mediocre at best with a 2nd year head coach that plays a less than mediocre QB with a broken left hand ahead of 2 talented freshmen QBs. UT isn't winning and is only competitive with teams in lower conferences or that are themselves struggling to maintain an above 500 season.

This is why Leech would have been good for UT. He doesn't require 4 star players to build a program and would have put together a competitive team which in time would get those 4 star players.

Pruitt may do the same but it looks to me as if he is waisting efforts on players that at this time UT doesn't appeal to.

We need to go get the best 2 and 3 star players we can, get competitive and then move our sites to higher ranked players.

And fans need to be honest with themselves... what 4 star player wold pick UT over BAMA, Auburn, GA, FLA? The list goes on. At this point we are on Vandy's level like it or not.
You make some good points but then overstate your case too much at the end. Darnell Wright, Wanya Morris and Henry To'oto'o were all recruited by the schools you mentioned... They were either 4 or 5 star players. The picked Tennessee. Pruitt isn't "wasting" efforts by recruiting the best in the country... and certainly not wasting time by recruiting the best in Tennessee. Here is to hoping that Tyler Baron turns out differently.

...and I'm sure it has already been mentioned a lot, but Tennessee beat Auburn on the road last year. So, we do have "scoreboard" on them at the moment.

Auburn recruiting be like

Dude, just stop with all the faux “I’m an insider bag man” crap. How many more times you gonna spew this crap and be wrong (again) before everybody on here just tell you yo stfu? Go away dude.

I mean...I have pictures that prove you wrong.

I won't share them.

But you're 110% wrong.

Couple of questions are which may have been posted today. I really do not to go theu the 40 plus pages of posts today on this thread. When did Hardy and family meet with UT staff and verbally gave the guarantee ?
Probably didn't happen that way as there was no need. Hardy had, and probably still has, a commitable offer. Only reason he would make a guarantee is if he thought it was necessary to keep the offer on the table, which clearly wasn't the case. If he did it to mess with us or to monkey wrench our recruiting in some sort of Rodney Garner led vendetta, he would've waited until early signing day when it would have maximum shock value. It seems like our timing has not been right since early signing period was implemented. We can't expect a couple of 5* to salvage the class every February. Somebody up there needs to nail down the rythm of the early signing period.

That's it...

As far as projects. Most high school DL have a learning curve. Phillips was a 5 star DL. Took him 4 years to really turn it on.
I like Hardy a lot but there are other guys out there. Not to mention the youth on our team at DL.
LB is a DB position.

This one hurts. This is probably the biggest recruiting setback so far this cycle. Not good.
Nah, it’s a blessing really! We want kids who want us. We got great coaches as anyone can see that they can develop and grow these players! They didn’t let these kids quit when the season started distastefully. Pruitt can coach his ass off! Defense about to be nasty! With or without Hardy!

Great post and very true. Let's finish strong.

Not worried about losing out on in-state recruits to be honest. I mean you don't want it to become a trend long term, but just recruit great players in general, regardless where they live. If we end up with a top 10 recruiting class and not one of them are from TN, that's still a great recruiting class. Hardy would have been nice. With the constant state of flux Auburn seems to be in regarding Gus, we could end up still being in play before early signing day.
