TN Commit David Oku

Plus, Auburn already has a commitment from the top JUCO All-Purpose back, Onterrio McCaleb. He is ranked a 6.0 and Oku a 5.9. I just don't understand why this is happening, what could have possibly occurred to make him switch up at the last minute?

Darren McFadden/Felix Jones were pretty successful in his offense. :whistling:

Runningbacks get alot of work in Malzahn's offense which makes it desirable.

That's a good point, and that is what makes the Auburn visit so strange. If Chizik is going to let Malzhan run his spread offense, it is about as wide open as you get, unless they are running something different.

However, the offense they ran at Arkansas when Malzhan was there wasn't that wide open if I remember correctly. They were able to use MacFadden and Jones pretty well. Maybe he can they will adjust to their personnel.

Let's remember why Malzahn was only at Arky one year though. He was only the OC in title. He didn't get to actually run the offense. Nutt used him as a puppet to lure Mustain and crew in. They all bolted after one year because it wasn't laid out to them on a silver platter at Arky when Nutt focused his game toward Jones and McFadden, which is what I would have done as well.

Well is Oku doesn't sign with Tennessee just remember that Ja'kouri Williams was rated by some as the #1 all purpose back in the country coming out of high school. I personally think Oku will be a stud but "all purpose" backs are very hard to judge. That being said I really hope Oku sticks with us. With all the negative recruiting going on I would guess it's hard for a high school kid to know who to trust. By next year our staff will have a whole year to gain the trust of the kids were recruiting and all the negative bs that seems to be used against our staff won't be effective.
I always kind of felt bad for Ja'Kouri.
You'd see him on not-so special teams and think, does he still play here?

Must be a hard thing to deal with for a kid.

It's a pretty bounced offensive system. It isn't a true spread. True he does run the spread but he also runs power and traditional sets as well. With Oku being an all around back running and pass catching, i bet they are selling how they will use him in all aspects of the game.

Auburn just got a commitment from a RB/S. They aren't sure what he would play but said it very well could be RB.

Does anybody have a feeling on what is going on here.... I have watched this boy for a while and I am clueless. I know he doesn't mind us going after other RBs ie giles...I know Kiff wants him. I just can't come to terms with it. I guess welcome to recruiting high schoolers. With our history the last few years I am afraid we are loosing them like in the past, eventhough this is a new staff and we are not used to it:eek:k:

Malzahn's offense is alot more of a passing offense than running.

agreed. if you go back to springdale, i think it was about 70/30. nutt wouldn't let him put it all in (rightfully so with mac and jones) at arky. not sure what tulsa looked like last couple of years.

however, i believe the wildcat or wild hog was his baby. maybe oku wants to show off his arm strength and deft touch.

Not sure where, but earlier in this thread it was said that Oku was an idiot for thinking that traveling to Syracuse was a big deal. I've been to Oklahoma. It's horrible. It wouldn't surprise me if Oku had never left Oklahoma before his college visits. In that case, traveling to the northeast region of the US would be an extremely big deal.

Trooper is a great salesman but I don't think he can overcome Kiffin and Gran. Does Oku have any teammates or friends enrolling at Auburn?

Congrats guys . . . We've been linked by a Syracuse fan site with the thread title "Vol Nation starting to get worried".

I am worried. This kid is a player. Quick question though. Why did Oku commit when we had Clawson and he is trying to run a spread correct? I may be wrong which is known to happen.
