I would really like to know why two weeks from NSD that this kid's commitment is all of a sudden up in the air?

What has got this kid's feathers ruffled so much that he is think of jumping ship?

I couldn't agree with you more. This is nothing unusual at all...don't know why Oku is being singled out so much. Hope he is a Vol. He would be a great addition. But if he isn't I will wish him well...unless he faces UT on a Saturday afternoon. Personally, I think he will still be a Vol.

I am wondering if Brian Butler doesn't have something to do with all of this. If he is advising Bryce Brown and David Oku all while running his exclusive recruiting website, it seems like he would have alot to gain if both of his studs are "uneasy" about their commitments and looking elsewhere. Oku has been extremely solid until a couple weeks ago. He gets the #1 APBack ranking and then bam he is taking visits.

This is another one of my crazy conspiracy theories, but it seems plausible that Butler's website will do alot better with all of this controversy.

Rex, any reason you are worried about him goin there? I mean like one guy said we have Gran who Oku was very impressed with at the camp he went to.

If I was a 17 year old high school senior, I'd probably commit behind the scenes and then completely screw with all the recruiting "experts" heads.

I am thinking of Onterio McCalebb. I take it he is a JUCO or something. He is listed as a 6.0 ranking while Oku is a 5.9.

I'm so tired of hearing about this dude. First he wants us, then he doesn't, then he does and then he doesn't. Hell now I don't want him. If you don't wanna play here just be a man and say you don't. Then just move on! :censored:

I don't have any inside information, but my hunch is that Oku goes elsewhere next week. Something doesn't seem right with the radio silence from him this week. It's not like it hasn't happened before, but having a previously solid, high profile recruit do a 180 this close to NSD without a legitimate reason (at least to the media) sounds really fishy. Drayton and Trooper are definitely in his ear, probably hating on Tennessee as we speak. Maybe Oku is just taking trips and having fun, but I doubt it. I hope I'm dead wrong.

Come on now, you know how it is. As long as the guy is coming to UT, he's gold... but the moment he changes his mind...

This is a strange situation. I still think we end up with Oku and Thigpen though. I can understand that Thigpen might look for early PT somewhere else, but I don't understand why Oku is starting to look around

Per some of the other threads, it looks like it's Eddie Lacey. Bryce Brown doesn't even know where he's going so we can't be banking on him.

There is an integrity thing here Tid. He's said more than once he would come here if we didn't hire a coach that ran the spread. Now all of a sudden he's visiting other places?? Doesn't make much sense if he's a player of his word.

I think Oku is gone, and I'll tell you why. I stumbled upon a website, and if I'm not mistaken, was created by his HS coach Gary Rose with information on his players' recruiting. I went to David Oku's info, and he has listed about 10 teams he is interested in. Guess who is not on that list? UT!! I will try and find the site again and post it here, but I was shocked and confused why Oku didn't list UT.
