TN Commit David Oku

I'm glad you have our old staff as well. There's no need to rub in the fact that the winner of the Big East still gets a birth in a BCS game. Hopefully that will change soon. One last tidbit on Syracuse football - since 2000, Kentucky has won more football games than Syracuse.

SU has had the worst 4 years in the history of our program, so I would hope so.

And the winner of the Big East is 6-2 in its BCS bowl game since 2000.

Lol, people were saying there were no recent NFL players from Syracuse. Why don't you make a list of players who were actually at Syracuse sometime this decade? It would be a lot shorter with a lot of names no one had heard of. That's the point. Syracuse has been completely irrelevant to football during recent history. Your list just proves this.

devil's advocate: Donovan Mcnabb, marvin Harrison, Keith Bulluck, Dwight Freeney and i'm sure others I forgot. And Jim Brown too, but he doesn't count as recent unless you consider him timeless =P

what that one post saying that he lived outside syracuse or whatever he was talking about.
I lived in syracuse until I was 17 played high school football in middle tn, played football at martin, got hurt and graduated at UTK.
I

I was waiting for one of you guys to come out of the closet. Yep, that was me.I lived in Utica, and that's my take from the people I met.

If you don't like it,I don't care.:good!:

McNabb - 1998
Harrison - 1994
Bulluck - 1999
Freeney - 2001

So far I'm seeing one that was still at Syracuse this decade.

lol back to Oku i'd say he should be thrown in the looney bin if he goes to SU..... there is no logical reason for him to.... exposure? no.... top flight competition? no.... superior coaching? no..... better facilities? no i mean i just don't see it happening

I was born in Waterville, NY - ever hear of it? Well actually I was born at a hospital in Utica, but we lived in Waterville (too small to have a hospital I guess). Parents moved south when I was 11, & I am a UT alum & proud of it. IMO Syracuse does have a proud football tradition - it's just been a while since they were relevant. We rented The Express the other night - about Ernie Davis - it was pretty good!

You mean as little to me as we mean to you. You can have your traditions, and we can have ours. Just like I don't give a rat's a*s about Duke-North Carolina, I don't give a rat's a*s about SEC football. I'm a Big East guy all the way - just a function of geography and alma mater, to be sure. Anyone who bags on Syracuse's football tradition obviously doesn't know that much about college football. Are we USC? Are we Oklahoma? Of course not. But we are a staple of college football in the Northeast.
Also your program that is so much better than SU is only rated 15 spots ahead of SU in ESPNs latest article of the top teams from 1936-2008, even with our terrible performance of late. I was at the game in 98 and UT should have lost only saved by a late 4th down pass interference call by an SEC official, otherwise we would be equal in National Championships and SU would have more Heisman winners.
You probably think every year when you get your "regional" version of college football publications, you say, "hey see Tn is on the cover again". Well guess what so are Su players in the NE, so before you going trashing a Program and region for that matter do your homework and sound intellegent.

The Cuse does own their city and seem happy playing in a blimp. College football in NY????? It's an NFL state, and I'm not calling NFL players those who played on a 1921 pro football team in Canton, Ohio.

not to mention...that the BE winner is always matched up with if not the weakest then the 2nd weakest opponent that gets a BCS berth.

You must not have heard. Syracuse is in New York, which means its a big deal.

It would be a bigger deal if he was being recruited by Buffalo right now. At least they can actually win thier conference. SU is an after thought in the collective minds of college football fans everywhere.

Ummm...if you are going to try to talk smack, you might want to make sure you at least spell intelligent correctly.

Any ways old Gif was one hell of a player, I got a few laughs from your responses and honestly that was all I was going for. I only posted that list of players because earlier several posters stated "Su has not had anyone in the Nfl but McNabb".
Look I realize that Su is not a power house in football, but it does have a rich tradition, and people do care about football in the Syracuse, unlike what that one post saying that he lived outside syracuse or whatever he was talking about.

I know about UT football and would really love it if the fans were not so closed minded, I mean people pull for the colts over the titans and it makes me sick ok Im rambling.....................what Im saying is I hope Kiffin does well for you and Im glad we got pretty much you old staff minus fat Phill and if we can steal OKU somehow, we might see in in a BCS game in 2011.

And if there ever is another civil war Im on your side and we will drown the north with sweat tea (but Ill still root for SU)

And who doesn't love a nice big cold glass of sweat tea?

SU, has one 3*, ten 2*s, and one 1* according to scout. And scout is usually generous.

Now I have thought alot about this. Oku took 3 officials during the season and then made his decision. He has been committed for a while now. With the final two weeks before he signs his LOI he decides to use his last two officials. Has never really expressed interest in those schools until now. Those two schools have two coaches that have recruitted him before.

I'm sure the conversation went something like this (with Trooper & with Drayton)

Coach: David, I know you are committed to UT, but I want you to come see my new school. If nothing else you will be helping me out while you get to go on a free trip.

Oku: Aight man.

Coach: And it will get you some attention comming into NSD. I know you have been committed for a while and you will have people talking again.

Oku: Sounds good

Coach: Sweet

Only 15 spots? Is that all? Yeah and we are only 11 spots from #1.
