TN Commit David Oku

I said that on purpose. Carrier Corporation was the major donor the dome is named after and they specialize in heating and air conditioning units. The Carrier dome does not have AC so it would not have made sense for me to call it the air conditioned dome.

:run: ... I was looking for a foot in mouth one but this one is too funny to pass up.

Sorry bro, I stand corrected.

 It's cool. It was hard for me to believe that any modern complex wouldn't have A/C either. It does get viciously hot in upstate NY, just not for very long.

It may have been '98, but Tennessee played Syracuse there. During the game the commentators commented several times on players getting cramps, the heat, and no air conditioning. Was that '98?

It's almost a joke to call it a 'dome' by modern standards. It holds less than 50k and inside, it looks more like you're playing inside a large blimp that doesn't fly instead of a football stadium.

It was funded, in part, by its namesake, Carrier, who started a large a/c company, but it doesn't have air conditioning.

Play there if you will. But it's no where close to Neyland, named after one of the greatest college football coaches of all time.

Now... get that Cuse talk outa here. UT is for serious football types.

I like Oku.........

But....what would anyone of YOU do? Go to UT and be the 3rd guy in the backfield, or go to SU and be the #1 guy in the backfield???

I know SU has been down for several yrs. But look at the players in the NFL from that school. They do not produce crap. There are quality players from that University.

I think UT would be great for him, but I would understand the chance to play from day 1, if he chose SU. It's not like he is looking at Tennessee Tech.

Most would be suprised to know how much a relationship with a coach means! Kiffin will do whatever it takes to keep him. But if he does not sign......I don't blame him!

Besides McNabb, what good NFL players has 'Cuse put out in the past few years?

I'd say even going to a mediocre SEC school is far better than going to the bottom feeder of the Big East

they also produced Marvin Harrison, but both those players are over a decade ago....more recently they have put in Carmelo Anthony, Hakim Warrick....oops :)

I never said SU was UT!

They have a great history. I would not knock a kid that chose to go to school there. I HOPE Oku comes to UT, but it is not a slam dunk! (Warrick...ect).

The kid needs to make the BEST choice for HIM!

I really like the way this guys runs downhill. But anybody who thinks that Syracuse is a 'big deal because it is in new york' (paraphasing) is an idiot. Upstate new york is about as big a deal as Cher's new album. Kid is an idiot.

how is he an idiot? i would take all my visits too if i was being recruited. he's probably just taking the visit 1) probably because of stan drayton 2) just to say he's been there. JMO though

true true. didnt kiffin tell recruits to take all of their visits because this is a once in a lifetime experience? i thought i heard that somewhere on volnation

Jma, he mentioned that to several prospects.

And like Volnbama said, this was purely a courtesy visit to Syracuse ONLY because of his relationship with Stan Drayton.

He's an idiot because he was quoted as saying that Syracuse is in new york, which means its a pretty big deal. I know and you know that Syracuse is far far away from times square. Oku, apparenlty, does not.

You mean as little to me as we mean to you. You can have your traditions, and we can have ours. Just like I don't give a rat's a*s about Duke-North Carolina, I don't give a rat's a*s about SEC football. I'm a Big East guy all the way - just a function of geography and alma mater, to be sure. Anyone who bags on Syracuse's football tradition obviously doesn't know that much about college football. Are we USC? Are we Oklahoma? Of course not. But we are a staple of college football in the Northeast.
Also your program that is so much better than SU is only rated 15 spots ahead of SU in ESPNs latest article of the top teams from 1936-2008, even with our terrible performance of late. I was at the game in 98 and UT should have lost only saved by a late 4th down pass interference call by an SEC official, otherwise we would be equal in National Championships and SU would have more Heisman winners.
You probably think every year when you get your "regional" version of college football publications, you say, "hey see Tn is on the cover again". Well guess what so are Su players in the NE, so before you going trashing a Program and region for that matter do your homework and sound intellegent.

Funny how you're able to read into something like that. I didn't see him say it's in New York City. Factually he's 100% correct in his assessment and in conclusion if I lived in Oklahoma my entire life I might consider schools located in CA, FL and NY to be a big deal regardless of if they're in the big city.
