How about not settling for Safe Hires?
How many of those have been working out for us here lately?
I think most of us are tired of our fans downplaying expectations.
none of that has a thing to do with whether or not one should "believe in gruden", and it's certainly not validation of it.
and we didn't go after, and settle for Dooley or Jones. we WOUND UP with dooley and jones.
i have a sneaking suspicion that we won't WIND UP with our next coach. and it's still not going to be Gruden.

No one is forcing you to believe in anything.
Just because people in the Gruden thread believe Gruden would be a Slam Dunk Hire doesnt make us anymore delusional than the fans who believe Mullen would be the next best thing at UT.
Sorry for actually caring about wanting to win again.

and no one will. but you're implying that if you don't believe in gruden, you're "accepting mediocrity".No one is forcing you to believe in anything.
i think hiring gruden is a slam dunk hire. i just don't think it's going to happen.Just because people in the Gruden thread believe Gruden would be a Slam Dunk Hire doesnt make us anymore delusional than the fans who believe Mullen would be the next best thing at UT.
believing in gruden is not a prerequisite for caring about winning, or having high standards for our program.Sorry for actually caring about wanting to win again.
What "safe hires" are you referencing? How about not settling for Safe Hires?

No, that was after Butch was fired. Y'all are doing everything you cab to twist this into a conspiracy. Gruden is not comingSo he is just going to come out and say he wants to leave ESPÑ and coach again? Not to mention that was said while we still had a HC and very positive he wouldn't say he has interest in a job that didn't have an opening. Like I said he has not said no publicly nor has he said he has no interest once the job opened up. No I don't think he takes the job but he's not once said no. He's expressed interest in the past so there's no denying that.
The Gruden talk is embarrassing to the fanbase so yeah.
I don't know if he is or isn't nor do you or anyone else outside of Currie, Gruden and a very select few. I personally don't think he is but it definitely isn't impossible either.
Are we wasting time even thinking of Gruden coming to Knoxville? I think we should just face facts, move on to the next, and concentrate on that person (or two or three people), and throw all of our resources into that.
I think Gruden is either playing around, getting his name out there for advertising dollars, or maneuvering for an NFL offer.
See the link from his broadcasting partner.
ESPN broadcaster Sean McDonough on partner Jon Gruden: 'He's not going to Tennessee'
I know this is probably a merge waiting to happen.![]()
