Thoughts on Casey Clausen...?

Ok so me and my girlfriend always seem to get into a disopute over this. She thinks Casey Clausen sucked. I big to differ. The stats don't lie. Well they arent good enough and she asks every other ignorant Vol fans what they think and they agree with her. I personally thought he was one of the most underrated palyers to play at UT. So what is you alls opinions on him so I can show her this lol.

The biggest thing Casey had going against him was he was expected to be the next Peyton for us. He wasn't on Peyton's level obviously, but he was definately one of our better QBs over the ages. At the time he was here, I also felt we needed a better QB, but we were spoiled at the time. (I wouldn't say I thought he sucked, but I thought he was average to a little above average at the time, and I wanted the best.) Looking back at the QB play since Casey has left; I'd love to have a QB as good as Casey every year. He probably never got the credit he deserved from TN fans.

casey was a gamer. he suffered at the hands of fulmer and randy sanders' play calling. he was about as unflappable a player as i've ever seen. he knew how to win, even if it didn't always look pretty. his one negative was that he would stare down receivers at times. he is definitely one of the best we've had at ut.

Anywho... I don't think I'd talk about sports with someone who thinks Casey Clausen sucked. I am not sure she understands football. She definitely doesn't know what she is talking about in this case.

You're right. You win. She loses.

The thing about Casey is that he had the moxie to play against Florida; he was not intimitated by the Swamp.

I used to argue this with my roommates a lot. Casey Clausen was a good QB. End of story.

He def did not suck, i believe he was underrated as well. now was he a dbag? yes, but the guy cld ball

Casey was a gamer, no doubt. Fans used to get on him but he was always out there, playing hard and doing what it took to win. I always liked him--tell your girlfriend to stick to cooking and sewing. (That ought to get some female responses)

14-1 on the road...ahh and if I remember he threw a ball that was dropped, late in a comeback bid at Auburn in '03. Casey the road warrior...the guy was a winner plain and simple.

Would love to have him right know, as our starting qb. I think so much of him I named my son after him. He is 10 months old and his name is CLAUSEN.

Except in winning a National Championship. :p

But yeah, I agree. Peyton Manning > Tee Martin. No argument from me that winning a championship makes you the better quarterback.

Heck, Brett Favre won a Super Bowl and broke most of Marino's record. I still think Marino is better. Same goes with Emmit Smith, I would say Walter Payton was better. That is all. :)

Nope, but he is helping in the development of UW bound Nick Montana back I believe at his alma mater. He also has Wayne Gretzky's son, Trevor.

Casey was definitely a clutch performer. His sophomore year was the only year he had some good weapons to throw to. If he had more/better playmakers around him his last 2 years, he could've won an SEC championship.
