Questioning or belittling your players skills in front of cameras is being a chickenshat. It doesn't matter how they play, because DD is the one ultimately responsible for having them ready to play. Dooley needs to suck it up and take some responsibility, and that's something he's tried as hard has he know how to avoid.

But when Spurrier does it, its not chicken****? I fail to see how winning changes the fact that you can talk bad about your players.

IMO I think Hunter has the right to be upset. He came to UT with dreams of playing on Sundays. He came to UT expecting to be coached by some capable coaches. All the scouting services/draft services says he has all the tools to be a top pick in the draft. Of course, they just assumed that he would be coached along the way. It is very possible that Dooley and his coaches could cost these kids millions of dollars. Was Bray not a supposed top 2-3 QB going into this year? Once again, the people rating these kids just expect them to be coached up at a place like UT. They have lost millions of dollars while our coaches try and figure out why they can't coach.

we get it. fire dooley, yada yada yada

Fully extending his arms and catching the ball would help...

I guess we know who didn't watch the whole presser. If you had then you would know that one of the first things out of CDD's mouth was to talk about the coaching and how the teams faults is ultimately their fault.

Dropping over ten balls isn't coaching. That's a mentally weak player. Especially when said player has shown the ability to do it.

I thought his dream was the Olympics? And he was also going to play football?

(On getting more production from Justin Hunter)
"First of all, it has to be done in practice with a lot more consistency and Justin has to understand that playing receiver is not always clean and easy. There is a little grit that you have to do to get open, you are going to have to get hit and good receivers are able to make those kind of plays no matter what the circumstance. He's not there yet. We all want to talk about how he is a first-round pick and the number one pick in the draft and he can be that but he has never performed to that standard in my opinion and he knows that. He needs to focus on his development, on what does he do well, what are some things we can keep building on and how do we get there. He has great character, it is important to him and he has a lot of special qualities for a wideout but being able to go produce out there week-after-week is what matters."

Spot on. But everyone will still complain about Dooley. Call it like it is!! This is correct.

Let's just ask this: is the quote true or not?

Certainly there seems to have been a disconnect between the players. But, I am a big believer that coaches put players in the position to win, but the players have to make it happen. Bray and Hunter seem to be mentally weak. We could have won the UGA game, and we could have won the MSU game. 3 and outs and turnovers will not win games. They are our big players, but they do not seem to make the big plays. Hunter- drop after drop (see Florida and Bama). Bray- too many turnovers and missed passes. We would have made it a game if Bray leads Howard against Bama.

and JH would have caught the ball at the end of half

Then nothing about Hunter should have been said, if he did take responsibility.

Spurrier can do it cause his players respect him for his ability, his championships and they know they are prepared and ready to play every week. Dooley's players dont respect him cause he's never won anything and they know the only way he's where he is today is cause of the last name he has. That carries zero cred among players. Please stop with the comparisons between Dooley and other championship level coaches.

Spurrier does it week in and week out...some coaches just bash players, for better or worse.

I don't think it's always a good tactic, but sometimes a player needs a kick in the pants like that to get them fired up.

This may not be one of those times, but then again, JH11 could come out with something extra to prove on Sat. We'll just have to wait and see.

I wasn't comparing Dooley and Spurrier...just noting that other coaches call players out in pressers, and the Ole Ball Coach was one that prominently came to mind. He's done it his whole career. He did it at FL before he had won all of his SEC championships.

Other coaches do it as well, and how do any of us know that the players, "know the only way he's where he is today is cause of the last name he has"? That seems like a bit of a projection.

So, it's ok for Dooley to call out Hunter in front of the media, right?? Would you say it would be ok for Hunter to call our Dooley in the media?? I mean, Dooley's record sucks right??

To answer your question, Hunter has played like crap, and what Dooley said was the truth. However, would you tell your wife she is fat, even if she is?? If Dooley wants to call our Hunter in front of the players and coaches, I'm all good with that, but don't continue to throw the players under the bus, for his moment of truth. People say that fans hurt recruiting, I can't imagine what a comment like that does in the minds of a 17 year old kid.

This always comes up with every coach. Same with Fulmer, same with Kiffin. People claimed Fulmer "threw his players under the bus," yet he should be beloved at UT. You have to do something that motivates your players, and if that means telling the truth, then you do it. I guarantee you that if Dooley gave some coach speak, some fans would criticize you for not telling the truth. Coaches truly can't win these days- either with the fans or the media. Whatever comes out of Dooley's mouth gets criticized.

I don't think he should either, and I do think it's wrong. However, he's got hardware to say he knows what he's doing.

U make no sense, and ur agenda is driving u to make idiotic comments that make no sense.. U have been the biggest baby this entire season.. Grow up man.

I don't think it changes whether or not you can or can't. With Spurrier or Saban it is received different from all angles.

IMO. If your calling them out in the media while not calling them out behind close doors your making excuses and shifting the talk away from you (the HC)

That said, I have no personal idea how Dooley has handled Hunter, Bray or DR when he was here or anyone else, past what some have speculated.

Don't remember CPR being accused of that by anyone. He was accused of being a players coach and not being angry enough or loquacious enough.

Yeah, the biggest complaints I remember people having were about his seeming lack of fire on the sidelines. (i.e. clapping after punts and 3 and outs, allowing players to just walk off while he was trying to talk to them on the sideline, etc...)

That being said, the players loved to play for him, and I think they just loved him as a person. At least their actions in support of him when his job was on the line would suggest that.

U make no sense, and ur agenda is driving u to make idiotic comments that make no sense.. U have been the biggest baby this entire season.. Grow up man.

Let me spell it out for you then....

1. I don't think coaches should ever call out players in front of the media, even if it's constructive criticism.

2. Dooley has done it since Day 1, and has no results backing him up to justify calling out anyone except himself.

3. Spurrier is Spurrier, and he's got multiple SEC Championship rings to say he knows what he's doing. If Dooley actually had some clout to go with calling out Hunter and his performance, then it would be received much differently.

As far as the whole "agenda" crap you and others spew, turn it sideways and stick it straight up your candy arses. I want UT to win, and I want Dooley to win, but he's not, and he's not done so in 3 years. Time to cut bait, and actually find someone who can win with the talent they are given.
