"This is not a family"

Let me spell it out for you then....

1. I don't think coaches should ever call out players in front of the media, even if it's constructive criticism.

2. Dooley has done it since Day 1, and has no results backing him up to justify calling out anyone except himself.

3. Spurrier is Spurrier, and he's got multiple SEC Championship rings to say he knows what he's doing. If Dooley actually had some clout to go with calling out Hunter and his performance, then it would be received much differently.

As far as the whole "agenda" crap you and others spew, turn it sideways and stick it straight up your candy arses. I want UT to win, and I want Dooley to win, but he's not, and he's not done so in 3 years. Time to cut bait, and actually find someone who can win with the talent they are given.

thats not how the SEC works.

look at the top teams in the SEC. then look at where they rank in recruitung.

in this league it's more about the jimmy's and joe's NOT x's and o's

I'm fairly certain no one is debating that here. What they are debating is that no matter what Dooley does, you will bash. It's one thing to hold that opinion, it's another thing saying that because he is not Spurrier means he cannot give an analysis of a player's performance when asked about it. He gave a pretty detailed and spot on analysis. Yet, you say he threw a player under the bus, which makes no sense when you look at the quote.

He should make a hell of an TV analyst then, especially when he's collecting his buyout. If Justin hadn't be playing up to par, why wait to say this in the public's eye, especially after your latest 31-point beat down to Bama?? Seems like he's just trying to pass the buck to his players.

So are you telling me that if you were an nfl gm that you would draft him first round based on what you have seen from him this year? Honesty does not equal throwing a player under the bus.

The NFL combine and Pro Days are where draft stock is made or broken.

Seems to me like he was answering a question.

To motivate Justin? I'm pretty sure he knows what is in the best interest of the best players on the team. Justin is a guy that is motivated by outside sources. He, himself, has said this. Dooley opened up the presser by saying that first and foremost it starts with better coaching. No one is passing the buck. Every coach in the country says this about some player on Monday.

You didn't even get my point. Dooley is calling out his best player on the team, and yet he has nothing to back in up in doing so. No SEC Championships, no SECE titles, not even a win against a rival.

As far as the job thing goes, a good boss doesn't call out his employees in front of customers either, period.

Maybe your "logic" is flawed.

And how do you know he has not been telling this to hunter since the NC State game? It may not be working, you never know could be what Hunter needs to get his a$$ in gear. If you really think no one has talked to him about his play so far then you are out of touch.

Someone from the Outside on JH

"It could be that he is still recovering from a knee injury suffered early in 2011, but how much longer can that be an excuse for inconsistent play?

I like his athleticism and fluid movement skills, but Hunter had a big drop late in the first half, continuing to have trouble picking up the ball out of cuts, especially in traffic. Hunter did pluck the ball nicely on a deep cross at one point, but overall his play on the field has not matched up with the first-round potential we saw on tape coming into the season."

Dooley still thinks he's the smartest guy in the room in those pressers, and yet he doesn't think before he speaks sometimes. If you need to motivate your players by your press conference, then you aren't a good coach.

So no coach is a good coach? Pull up any press conference in America from any coach, and you will see something similar. What the heck does "smartest guy in the room" even mean? He stated the obvious, nothing he said was earth-shattering.

Heck, Spurrier questioned his ENTIRE team's committment. He threw the whole dern team under the bus.

I didn't say they didn't talk with him, and that's not my qualm. Dooley much more eloquently called out Hunter, than he has done in the past with other players. Still, I don't think it's a good thing to do, especially with his job on the line.

Since you think it's a 100% that coaches call out players in their press conference, please post the 100+ press conferences that happen, and show me this to be true. :hi:

I fully believe anything Dooley says, the players have already been told. The part where Dooley says "in my opinion, and he knows that" leads me to believe this has been discussed a few times between the two.

Hunter has had an off year, hope this motivates him to produce. Cause a few more games of dropped balls is going to hurt his stock, if it hasn't already.

I wouldn't pretend to know what he has said to any of them behind close doors you may be correct.

IMO, whatever he is saying at this point (and maybe even further back) has not worked, and the point is really moot.

If this is true maybe the new tactic should be calling out players on Friday.

Or you could simply google it since you are wanting to know? I gave you one example of Spurrier calling out his team's committment, which Mark Schlereth says is the most damning thing a coach can ever say.
