This has always been a 5 year rebuild

There’s a scenario where we could make a change sometime this season, and that would be with an MOU from Urban Meyer. Otherwise you stick it out.

Urban will not come back to the SEC...that just would never happen. I doubt he ever coaches again, but if he did it would be at a place like South Cal in the PAC. He likes taking jobs with huge built in advantages, quick turn around times and no other Goliaths on his annual schedule. Saban burned him out at UF and he burned his own bridges at OSU, those 2 conferences are off the table. Likely only ND or USCw could get him back on the sidelines, he won't go near the ACC (Clemson rules), wont go back to the SEC (Bama rules) or B10 (OSU won't have him back), and the B12 has only 2 jobs he would look at (UT and OK) but they both have young HC's staying put. That leaves the PAC or Indep., which means ND or USCw. Period. He doesn't have the kahuna's to take on a project like Tenn.

Florida isn’t a fair comparison. Mullin was the OC at UF and knows the program inside out. UF never fell out as a solid SEC competitor.

Butch recreated UT as a MAC school. It needs a massive overhaul to return to anSEC level of play.

Always a reason and excuse for why we can’t get the job done.

Name a decent program out there today that needed 5 years to rebuild?

You either have a quality program and staff, or you don't. It's not much more complex than that.

You're committing the fallacy of assuming we're decent

Who gets five years to suck at the job they do? Really?

I did six corporate turnarounds. If you looked at just Year 1, you would have fired me. The fact is, it takes two years minimum to make major changes.

All in, it took me 4 yrs and 6 mos to make 150 million.

That’s why.

I agree. We have a decent staff to make changes. It's starting to dawn on me, we have crappy players. There has to be new blood there. Period.
Everyone (including me) wants to see the backup QB. Pruitt says JG is the best. Monday morning QB's say JP is the only one not seeing it. Add the years of QB coaching/playing experience on the staff, with Pruitt, Chaney, Tee, and Wienke. Are all 4 of these in denial about our backups? They see them every day in practice. I gotta believe that.. (gulp..) Our backup QB's aren't ready for prime time.

So it is what it is. These coaches will continue to do what they can with very little to work with. Changing staff now could be an expensive mistake that will put us another decade in the wilderness.

The whole team played with better effort.

Pruitt’s recruits are the best players on the field.

This has always been a 5 year rebuild.

A negaVol like me shouldn’t have to talk you off the ledge. Give Pruitt more time.
No lie...... I finally realized it last year watching the Oline and seeing who was graduating from the Dline. No matter how good they are.... an 18 year old 5 star freshman isn’t on the same level as an upper echelon 22 year old that’s been in the strength and conditioning program over three years.

If it takes more than three for him to show some significant wins... he won't be the one to complete the rebuild nor can he be. If it takes 5 years... recruiting will have already dried up.

We’re now 1.333 (repeating of course) years into this rebuild. Be patient. Stay the course.

UGA coming up. Let’s keep it within a respectable 50 points. Don’t sell your tickets to their fans.

Rebuild to what level? Playoffs in the 5th season or just bowl eligibility?

It's so simple we still don't know where to line up on defense most of the time and on offense we are lost what do you call that, i don't won't to hear team is young been hearing that for 15 YEARS AND 4 HEAD COACHES.

Golly, someone is finally using common sense on this board.

Pruitt isn’t the answer. We learned that after the GA st game
We will be like this till we start at the top and clean house but we won't do that because we have to have one of our own running the show, Boys this isn't even rocked bottom yet, it will take years for someone to clean this mess up the fans won't to hear this but the truth is the truth we have been a mess for 15 years and it still getting worse i just don't see why we Tennessee won't open the bank and get a real football coach in here that can do the job these highschool coaches can't do that a good story but it won't cut it here.

That is one tremendous sentence.

I can vouch, JB is a negavol but he speaks truth.

I'd like to see him get more time, but he's not going to be able to flip the roster with losses to GA State and BYU. Recruits want to see progress. Everything off the field looks/sounds great, but the team actually seems to have regressed from last season. I still think something broke with this team after the Kentucky game last season. They had shown some promise and they looked prepared even if they were outmatched. Completely opposite team that next week against Missouri and they haven't looked any different since. Pruitt's going to have to pull off a miracle to turn this team around and show enough to recruits to secure as good of a class as we need.

I'm going to try to step away from these boards and just focus on catching the games on TV and hoping for a miracle. Fussing on a forum doesn't help. We've got no choice but to just let it play out.
Recruits want to see playing time and that is what he can promise with a bad season. He can point to his guys and say "see who I am playing?" They care nothing but about how good the team is when they are playing. You can jump off the bandwagon for awhile.
