This comment from a rival player...

A reporter asked Florida LB David Reese if he'd ever felt sorry for a QB. His response: "Only QB Ive ever felt sorry for was maybe last year against Tennessee because he looked like he had enough."

Few things football-related are more humiliating than a storied rival taking pity on you like that. It's sad.

Most guys on here over 30 have learned to be able to sum guys up. There are guys who are 300 pounds and 6’1 who look tough as nails but wouldn’t crush a grape in a food fight. Then there are guys who are 140 pounds and 5’8 who will fight you to the death and are more than happy to swing with guys three times there size. These are the guys you don’t cross. Or the guy who just stands there calmly when crap is about to go down.

True football players have the heart of a fighter and any fighter worth a grain of salt learns to size his competition up real fast.

From what I have seen, the rival player is unfortunately correct.

Until last week's game I thought the most cutting remark I had ever heard about Tennessee football came from the head coach of Maryland after they beat the Vols in a bowl game. He said of the Tennessee defenders, "They tackled about like Wake Forest".

I got what you were saying.

Just kind of sad that the school that produced Peyton Manning and Heath Shuler has to hope we can get Peterman or Crompton level production out of the position now.

Well hopefully that changes soon!

I've been watching, playing, and coaching football for nearly 40 years. Jarett Guarantano is one of those kids, who is awesome......in practice!!!!! I like his toughness, but that's about it. Blame the O-line if you want too, I've seen past TN QB's with crappy line play, and we were still successful! Dobbs... A QB change would do this team wonders. I know he's 21-22, and I hate to bad mouth, but dang son, clutch that ball any longer and my old a~~ will sack you. All I can say to J.G. is THROW THE BALL WAY DOWNFIELD TO JENNINGS! Please!!!!

Maybe the O-Line is sick of the QB getting them beat down.... "look-out" blocks are very real. Dewey Warren admitted that recently. So we have a couple young QB's that we're not sure of. We weren't sure of Alvin Kamara and let him sit for 2 seasons. A QB with no field-awareness, no sense of time, unable to see the field, blah, blah, blah. Time for a change. You could read from Pruitt's confrontations with JG that they all know he can't do the job. What is it? His dad has horrible tapes on the staff?

Rese laid some tough hits on JG last yere. Can't tell wuts wrong w the Vols this yere, but I still spect a tuff game in the swamp.

Exactly! The kid is as tough as they come! The people that criticize the most are the ones have never been competitive at anything.
He is tough. I dont think anyone will deny that. He is not good at reading a defense and making quick decisions. That's all.

I find it interesting that everyone seems to think replacing JG with a QB who has never played will suddenly make the defense play like they give a crap and the Oline like they can block somebody for more than a nanosecond.
lmao just stop. the o line actually played good. hell we ran all over them. jg has had plenty of time all year long. are they the best o line in the country? no, but they’ve been more than serviceable the last two weeks
