Counting down here at work until I get to work out today. Getting psyched up...

Oh yeah!! Worked out quads last night, whew they are dead.

Just read an article that made me think. It talked about working quads more relative to hammies and how that can lead to injury. Nothing earth-shattering, but it did make me think and reflect on HS football. The only way I got true hamstring work was when I did proper squats. There was no emphasis on building up the hamstrings. We didn't even really do deadlifts, we did power cleans. Kinda crazy.

Is that normal, or is that just my experience (at 2 different HS's in 2 different parts of the country)?

We had an auxiliary station of leg curls, leg extensions, and hyper extensions. I never did dead lifts, other than light RDLS, once throughout HS which is ridiculous. I've read a lot of articles that state you should have as many pull movements as push movements. I.E for every bench there should be a row or pull up, etc. We didn't even come close to having a 1=1 ratio with that.

I can see how that could happen. I mean look at most guys who workout out legs in the gym (at least at mine), they never really work hamstrings. They might do a few leg curls here and there. I try to hit quads one day and hams the other, but if I work them out together, I make sure to rotate what I start with (few weeks of quads first, then a few weeks of hams first). I personally feel that stiff legged deadlifts are the mass exercise for hamstrings, and there are rarely any people who do them. Just my opinion on the topic.

let alone do them correctly

I very rarely see people do straight legs, usually it's just dedicated people who know what they are doing. What are you seeing people do wrong, exactly? Maybe I'm doing something wrong that I'm unaware of.

typical stuff, people kind of "heaving" the weight. not maintaining very good form.

K, then I'm probably good. I get overly concerned with the positioning of my feet/legs and wonder if I should be doing something different.
