The Weightlifters Thread

I'm trying to do as much cardio with the weights as possible right now. I can't stand doing cardio (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, etc.) for long periods. When I do focus on cardio I have to do intervals so I don't get so bored.

Good luck on the cut, I am a big fan of interval training when it comes to cardio.

Never done it, I am using Layne Norton's diet that is on simply shredded right now. I like it, it gives you everything you need.

How are your results so far? I'm not following anything really strict yet. Started cutting back two and a half weeks ago and I'm down 4.5 pounds. I've done a lot of meal prep from the Abs diet and Body for Life plans in the past, but I need to get more regimented in the diet. I'm going to look at this plan. Thanks,

I started at 218.6 at 11% BF, I am in week 4 and I am currently at 212 and 9.2% BF. It is very good and detailed, it talks about the importance of slow dieting. I am currently losing about 1.5 lbs per week. This will help me retain the most muscle possible. When I get home tonight I will get the link for you to check it out. He really knows his stuff. Good job so far, keep it up OW.

Whoa, and you went on a diet? I would kill for those stats. What are you 6' 6", or just super yoked? I'm 6' 2" 202 lbs with 14% body fat.

I am 6'5, decent size. Definitely not yolked. Just felt like getting shredded again that is all. I have been lifting for about 2 years now, my goal is to be 200 with 4-5% BF. When I first started lifting and eating right I was 180. Also, the gf is doing her own diet so I figured I would be encouraging.

Maintaining 4% bf year round? That's pretty dangerous from everything I've ever read.

K, it's probably just a difference in how body fat is measured. Even 5% is insane to maintain. Lean pro athletes typically compete in their sports at a minimum of 6%. I recall Arnold claiming at competitions he was just under 8%. Some bodybuilders achieve 4% by competition time, but they can't maintain it for longer than a couple days without losing muscle. 8-9% is probably ideal. I shoot for about 10%, because it's a lot of work to get it lower than that, and probably not worth the effort.

Most bodybuilders hit the 4-5% mark. I am actually doing the bodybuilding.com transformation challenege for fun. The gf encouraged me too so that is the real reason for the low bf goal. I do not expect to win it, but ultimate goal is to compete in a natural bodybuilding show in a couple of years. I want to see if I can diet properly now.

LOL.

Girlfriend just told me that she bought p90x2 for me. We have the first one as well but I haven't completed the cycle on the first one start to finish. I have done all the workouts though. Anybody used number two yet? Thoughts?

I saw that episode, the kid busted his ass to lose weight. I enjoy seeing inspirational things like that. His trainer is a beast.

Wrong link but same idea. There was a clip about it somewhere, maybe in a doc, I forget. There is a Mr. Natural Olympia contest that's fairly popular, and has IOC-standard drug testing.

this is my first post so this may have already been asked, what are some of yall's most impressive feats of strength and/or endurance in the gym?
