The Weightlifters Thread

I will go as low as 3 reps every so often, like yo usaid it changes it up. Also, on legs I will do reps of 20-25 sometimes.

im a firm believer that legs need high reps to respond. I like to do extended drop sets on leg press that sometimes eclipse 50 total reps. If you can walk pain free the day after you do legs then you need rethink your approach to training

Legs recover pretty quick. If you haven't did legs in a while they will be pretty sore for the first few workouts & always for a short time after. After that it's not that bad. I'm opposite on the high reps I rarely exceed 10 reps & just do moderate to heavy weight. I don't think reps "shock" your legs as much as actual weight.

If you rarely exceed 10 reps then how do you know what a drop set of 50 plus reps feels like and affects your body? Its good to change things up. It may spark new growth. It will even help you bust through plateaus. it may even make you sore again

My arms used to be about an 1/8 of an inch short of 19 with a pump. I don't lift that heavy anymore. At that time, I was close gripping 225 for high reps and could pretty easily barbell curl 135 for 15. My elbows really started giving me a lot of trouble. I'm training in my basement gym now. Some of my friends are still power lifting though. My old workout partner messaged me on Facebook the other day when he got 225 for 40 on the bench, but he's a freak. I do miss lifting heavy at times.

Partly because once my legs get to a certain point I'm fine with them. I'm not trying to squat 800 lbs. If I'm repping 315 x 10 with pretty much ease & 405 x 8 or more without blowing my ass out I'm fine with that. I do cardio for what your talking about.

Same. It makes shopping for pants ridiculous.

My problem is I can never find shirts that fit. I have a long torso, I'm skinny, and I have decent shoulders/chest/arms. Either a shirt isn't long enough, is way too tight on my chest/arms, or my midsection is swimming in it.

Abercrombie & Fitch

I hate that song, though. I've literally never tried on a shirt of theirs because of it, LOL.

The brands I've found that tend to work are Ralph Lauren, H&M, Baker Skateboard T's (coincidentally), and there are a few more. Thanks for the heads up.

the european fit. That's what A&F is going to because they are leaning heavily on that market. I don't care for their branding - big mooses and whatnot, but their button-downs are pretty much void of that, and they have classic patterns. It just doesn't fit me.

im gonna throw out some of the cliche gym questions...how much can you bench, squat, and deadlift? How big are your arms? Ill start...bench 330, squat 425, deadlift 495. Arms are 18 inches with a pump btw im 5'10" and 215 lbs.

My arms are 17, but I don't do any heavy lifting anymore. I'm also old.
