The Weightlifters Thread

Hm. Haven't had the chance to use them.

I've been big on bands lately.

Yeah, I like the bands or the chains. My cousin was telling me there are new digital machines that will adjust the amount of resistance based on how hard you are pushing so you are just able to do every rep. Sounds interesting.

What if you don't wanna get too big? Lol. It's funny when dudes say I wanna get ripped but not too big.

Unless they are roiding or spending stupid amounts on supplements then that shouldn't be a worry. The vast majority of people can't get huge just from creatine and chicken.

I do like hammer strength/plate load machines. Beyond that I never got into machines too much.

Yea but that's not what you do exclusivively. If I'm by myself I might do flat bench alone but be careful not to go too heavy & then get on the hammer strength for incline. To me machines just supplement all the other basic lifts.

so what do you get: low weight & high reps vs. high weight & low reps

It really doesn't matter. You're gonna get stronger & more defined before anything & then hit a plateau before you start packing on mass. Then again if you gotta worry about getting too big you probably don't need to lift. Ususually it's just uninformed skinny guys who think lifting a few weights will magically blow them up.

I think I've hit my plateau... I've been stuck on the same weight for a while.

as for the reps... a lot of guys I know think they're being macho and will lift too much weight without getting many reps in. after a while they just look beefy. no definition

i'm a golfer. i don't want to pack on a bunch of mass, but i want to get stronger. i've heard a lot of personal trainers for golfers say to go with lower weights and higher reps. so why do you think that is?

Core work is key to golfers. Legs are a close second.

Because anybody can be a personal trainer & most don't their a** from a hole in the ground. I compare them to high school refs.

Lol. Do whatever you want & believe whatever you want. There's countless articles on every lifting method in magazines & crap that do nothing buy contradict one another. Why? Because they got to write about something. Tiger use to be able to take one hand over the top of his back & one underneath & interlock them but cant do it anymore due to his "high rep" lat exercises.
