The VN workout thread!

My ipod is huge compared to today's. Not ready to invest in a new one.

Mine is as well, it is old, but it works. My brother was given an ipod shuffle for a wedding he was in as a gift and he gave it to me over the Christmas break because he didn't want it. It is tiny as heck, the only con is it doesn't have a screen which is why it is so tiny, but it is perfect for working out.

my brother has the shuffle, i mean it's small which i like, but you can't find ur songs, which i don't like

I just got a Sansa Clip. It's awesome! Tiny, stays outta my way. And I use Rhapsody.

another question, this is going to sound stupid. i don't have limewire or bearshare, so how do i go about getting songs onto the ipod?

i've been looking at an ipod, i know i know i'm late on this, but i never needed an ipod. but during cardio we have tv's but i get so bored, i'd love to have some music other than the crappy xm station that they play. they have xm 20 or 21 the one that plays the top 20 that the people vote on. half the songs i hate, when i workout i don't wanna hear pink or taylor swift etc. what kind of ipod do ya'll suggest?

ouch...top 20 music? My gym plays XM too. They always have it on Octane...good stuff

Everything from the Doobie Brothers, Dierks Bentley, White Zombie, Ludacris, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback, Donavon Frankenreiter, T.I....

Nickelback it has to be one of their more upbeat songs if I am working out, like If anyone cares, is way too slow. I like things like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, etc.

I need to get one of those arm bands that holds the I-Pod but they are $30

This is cheaper...

you can always rip your cds into MP3 format with iTunes and transfer them to your iPod. It's simple...

If you have songs on your computer you can put them on it, transfer songs from cds if you are still old school and use those :p

well considering my best friends wife put a trojan on my comp and it's being restored now, the songs i had on my comp are no longer there

well that is a pro, but if you are focused on working out are you really going to be looking around for songs? Just press the next song button, it's not that hard. :p

well then upload from a cd or download to your computer.

don't have many cd's, all i really have is mainly country, and i don't wanna listen to country while working out. i'd like to listen to some alternative. i'm not putting limewire or bearshare on it. isn't there a legal way of downloading songs off the internet

yes there is if you have firefox and google. That's how I get my music.

Rhapsody is about $15 a month, download as many as your player will hold (we have mine, hubby's, and son's) and up to 3 computers on one account. It's worth it to me. Synch the music on your player once a month and you're good to go.

i see you do a split, have you put on any muscle with this?

also why in the heck do you have sweets in your diet. ya u'll gain weight but i'm sure it's not the weight u want

The split routine works well for me. Yes, you can add mass with it, just use heavy weights and lower reps. 3 sets of 6 work best for me. I change up about every 3 months. I have buddies that are powerlifters, so I will lift with them some, extremely heavy weights and 3 reps.

Sweets...I'm not trying to cut for a bodybuilding show, and I have a weakness for Starbucks Frappuccino. I get one a week, on Friday morning. As long as things are done in moderation, then you are fine. Sweets aren't a staple of my diet by any means.

I need to find the pros and cons for creatine and protein, i sampled both and saw better results with cr, however it was only about a month or so. Comments would be appreciated : ).

I consume about 35 grams of protine as soon as I finish working out. I have only been back working out regularly for about a month and a half now. I have never used creatine. I went to school with 2 guys that used it during the summer (about 3 months) and they both gained about 15lb and really bulked up. I am more into toneing and cardio. I am not an expert but I think protine helps repair muscles after a workout. Creatine helps boost muscle growth.

creatine also helps with strength. i use to take cell tech. it guarantees 7lbs in 7 days which is true, but the strength gain you get from it is ridiculous. it's something like 26 times stronger than creatine. good stuff
