The VN Recipe Thread

Yep, Sly gonna have us all on Pintos and cornbread tomorrow.

It finally turned cool here in FL. White bean chicken chili on the menu for tomorrow.

For usa--Here's a cheapy meal I like and is easy. Need a large fry pan. Add one can Allen's Italian cut green beans. It's a good brand and is packed in water w/ a little salt. Dump beans and water into skillet. Chop two medium sized russet potatoes into about 1"-1-1/4" pieces. Slice sausage (summer sausage, kielbasa, etc.) into 1/2" pieces and add to mix. This would be one of the shrink wrapped Hillshire Farm brand kielbasa/sausage. Slice two thick slices of sweet onion. Quarter the slices and add to the mix. Add about 6-8 oz. of water. Cover and simmer for about 45 minutes to an hour. Check every 10-15 minutes as you may need to add a bit of water. The water is only to provide heat/steam/moisture and to keep from burning. Simple, easy, cheap meal in an hour.

go to the deli @ the grocery store and have them slice turkey thick.....buy a box of stove top. in the aisle where the gravy mixes are get a packet of turkey gravy. buy toothpicks

mix up the stove stop stuffing, lay out two pieces of turkey per person flat. spoon some stove top onto the turkey where it starts to get wide. roll it like a burito and stick a tooth pck in it. do it to all turkey slices. spread the rest of the stuffing in the bottom of a pan/dish and lay the turkey rolls over top of it. put it in the oven and bake 10-15 minutes. mix up some instant potatoes and the turkey dressing.

The biggest obstacle here is what his dad is going to allow. If his dad won't buy ham for a chez sandwich, what will he buy? My head explodes with ideas I'd love to share with him, but I'm reluctant because of his dad. Maybe I'm just "over thinking the plumbing".

His dad already buys eggs and cheese. Bacon can be inexspensive if you look for it. Potatoes are cheap as well. Alot can be done with those items less exspensive than Hot Pockets or frozen pizza.

Baked potato with butter, bacon and chez. Potatoes au gratin, mashed potatoes, potatoe cakes, omelettes, breakfast for dinner.....

One of my favorites, even if I'm not on a budget. Mahatma yellow rice, onion and broccoli. I like to add chicken and jalapeno, but it's good without. With all ingredients, it will feed 4 at 1.33 per portion. Regular white rice is cheaper and will work also. Add some of that chez if you want. Spread it on your bread as a sammich, I have.

I can think of things to do with what he already has and a box of bisquick.

Oh yeah that's another thing, my dad and sis can't handle spicy, I love it just fine but they don't :ermm:
