Trust me, you are correct. I won't even engage him anymore. He's gone to the dark side.

The vast majority of things I write about are simply obvious observation.

Heck, I don't even know how I feel about it.

I mean he is in another thread talking about how this for "democracy" in Venezuela, that is obviously not true. It is, what it is.

Mike Johnson is funny

He's right though, in sense of the phrase. Removing Maduro alone doesn't change the Chavista regime in Venezuela, that put and kept him in power.

It's increasingly looking like Trump had no real plan for Venezuela after this operation other than bloviating on TV.

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing kicked off because Trump got mad that Maduro said "come and get me."

Looks like the plan worked pretty well for what he wanted, that doesn't mean you are going to enjoy it.

He would probably still be there if he would have just did what he was told - they are being very transparent about that.

Lol no one in the administration has been able to articulate what the actual end goal of the operation was, much less you.

I wouldn’t say “build”. Maybe, re-establish

I look at it a little different but I think we on the same page. (I am in no way saying I agree or disagree, or think this will work or not, or anything like that)

But they have. Do what we tell you, run the day to day, and don't answer the Chinese phone call. You my friend, would be hauled off to the room with bars. 😂

I was in the other thread answering a bunch of "Trump promised isolationism" posts by trying to explain that Trump promised to move on the global stage for America's benefit, and is currently doing what he said he'd do. You somehow felt that demanded a correction that Trump is actually acting globally for America's benefit.

Absolute dumbassery.

I’m not either, but slightly more confident that it will work. Only because I have faith in the people he has chosen and that I have worked with and for one of them AND I know how the man thinks and works. Now I’m not saying it won’t all go to sh!t, but I am saying that if the others are 1/10th his caliber they’ll do their damndist to get it done

The Venezuela thread

What did he mean by "change a society"?

Is "trying to install democracy where it has never existed, to people who don't want it" the same as "freeing the use of existing democratic institutions in a country where they have been subverted, and the people are desperate for it to happen"?

Nobody is doing either one -- its called do what I tell you.

How do you square that with Trump repeatedly proclaiming in his campaign that he would not engage in foreign military action, yet he bombed Iran and now had armed forces breach the sovereignty of Venezuela, now threatening to do so with Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, and Greenland?

You make think those are good things and in the national interest, but its 180 degrees from his campaign promises.

He keeps going back to I am saying or implying that I don't think its in America's interest. I think he actually believes it is, but not sure how I feel about it. He is taking that as an attack for some reason.

But yes, you are correct, its 180 flip from a major reason why voters were drawn to Trump.

Yep. Since he said it, the entire world is not allowed to change around him and he has to abide by what he said then. The unobtainable standard he is held to is insane. Or he's a 'liar'. I'm sure you would be happy with either moniker.

I'm saying that when he said it, he thought it. And then he won, and people said, hey, I've got an idea... and by the way did I tell you how regal and powerful you look today?

And so then he changed his mind. And had some pancakes, looked at some more gold plated crap he has scattered around, took a nap, and had a Happy Meal brought in.

You strain a gnat to ignore the camel. Like I said, you may be right and I'm waiting to see. I'm nervous about it all.

Doesn't change the fact that you thought the argument that Trump's America-First promise was always about acting globally for America's benefit enough to argue and "correct" that Trump is in Venezuela for America's benefit. lol

Woo hoo! You really showed everyone with that one. Absolute brilliance.

I've been asking for the quotes that he promised no foreign actions. Strangely, every time I ask for those from the ones making the claim...

I never said or implied any such thing. Just the opposite, actually.

The vast majority of people voting him and put him in office believe that, meaning they were tired of the nonsense. That's it. Now, I am not saying one should think its good or bad... I am saying its going to be a big pill to swallow.

Europe to Putin about right now. (to be honest, that ship has probably sailed)
