why would they throw good money after bad?

putting more money into an investment that didn't pay out the last time is just dumb. that is why they want more assurances.

in my business if a client stiffed us on the last job, we aren't going to work another job in hopes that they pay us that full amount, plus the rest of what they owe. that is just dumb.
Maybe because there will be different people who are in charge.

I think the big ones are, Chevron, China National Petroleum and Sinopec from what I can gather. I would assume all of them are effectively obsolete at the moment as the U.S. is taking all the oil. The Chinese companies are owed $10b I guess. Trump is saying there is no international law that he has to follow -- at this point the U.S. is the biggest pirate in the world. If law does not apply, how could there be an enforceable agreement? My guess is another stupid stunt, like the Exxon backfire where he gets some oil executive to talk about all the money they're going to pour into there.

If all your trading partners keep losing all their money, and Trump is making sure foreign investors lose money by theft than what incentive does anyone have? They don't, Exxon was right.
You mean the same leases that were stolen from American companies? Are you saying Trump just took back what was stolen prior? Sounds like you're siding with your communist buddies. 🤔

I'm actually very dumb which is why all these conversations are so painful. Everything from a mask is going to stop a cold, to the US is the friend of Europe, to the Ukraine is close to capturing Siberia, to paying terrorists to blow up Americans, how its great to murder Americans without due process, etc...its very entertaining even for an idiot like myself.

Now all you smart people get your ass off the interwebs and back to work because you apparently not only owe money to terrorists but soon to Venezuelans and big oil...and always Israel. Just remember while you are paying out how you got this all figured out...it will make the time more enjoyable as you work. Thank you for your service.

They're a soveign country, I take it you don't know what happens here under bankruptcy or sanctions or receiverships for instance. Nationalization is a thing, which is price of doing business....the US freezes assets on a daily basis.

Not sure what your point is.

This article provides some good historical background. Lot's of changes over time. Various groups taking advantage of other groups.

The point is those assets were stolen years ago. You can't steal something that was yours in the first place.

Idk the details but I know that the other day they were having to find new operators for some of it as Russian companies are operators of some and the US is forcing them out because of sanctions.

Friends. Lol
The Iraqi oil fields have been pumping for years. The oil companies wasted no time in getting those oil wells back ip and running. The Kuwaiti oil fields were ip and running within a year.

The point is, oil companies will get the oil. Like I said, ExxonMobil is just trying to get money/security agreements.

Well we know it failed plenty under Obama so you're right. This may backfire but you should understand the threat Maduro posed to the Western Hemisphere before opining.

Do you think the US needs Venezuelan oil? Do you own a car? Gas prices have been going down for months.

Now I think he overplays his hand if he goes solo trying to do anything in Iran. Let the people sink Iran.
We are down what .30/gallon since Trump took office? That is saving me what $6 per week? All while my home electricity costs have gone from approximately $900/month to $1,200/month. Seems like our focus needs to be elsewhere.

Yes and they will be rich too.

You take your $6 and quit complaining mister. That's real money Trump personally put in your pocket

It doesn't seem like he's giving them back to the companies they were taken from. He's just trying to get anyone to take them and so far no takers so it appears the American people will subsidize this endeavor.

That's where this started. ExxonMobil said they didn't have interest. Trump said ok. My point is their will be dome companies that will be more than happy to move in and take that oil. My guess is there will be some American tax dollars involved but I think much of it will be financed directly from oil revenues.

No oil companies have interest in a 100 billion dollar investment in Venezuela. No takers at this point. They are all telling him to get screwed.
