The Trump Effect

Trump said regarding the Epstein case in a press conference just now that it’s “time for the country to move on” and spent the whole time whining about CNN and insulting their reporter. He wouldn’t address the victims and the mess exposing their identities and said the country isn’t interested any more. Obviously that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Wonder why he’s so interested in everybody moving on? Inquiring minds want to know.

If that were true you wouldn't be supporting this admin so fervently. They aren't serious about cutting spending
Congress is not wanting to cut spending...they have yet to codify cuts DOGE made.

You would be supporting cutting Social security and medicare..two of the biggest expenses bankrupting the country while stealing wealth away from people

Because Trump signed the spending back into place. He didn't have to. He also didn't have to give the war dept another half trillion but that happened. This admin is still not serious about real cuts

I support cuts to all entitlement programs and have for a very long time

After all I've paid into FICA you want to cut my benefits? FICA has paid for itself and then some. I am for raising the age of SS payments. You shouldn't get to start taking them at age 62 but that's about it

There are about 3 fiscal conservatives in Washington and Trump isn't one of them. I can't think of any Democrat fiscal conservatives

Who are the 3?

Why is there no push to change the law?

There are pushes to change the law. Supporting the abolishment of ICE is a push to change the law, in and of itself. Democrats are useless. They're just doing BS like forcing ICE agents to wear body cams, but when we catch them doing murder in 4k and violating rights and assaulting peaceful protesters, nothing happens to them, so what are body cams going to accomplish?

Does it really matter what the law is?...because DHS, ICE, and this admin just keep ignoring the law.

I've got Rand Paul, Thomas Massie and Warren Davidson. Thoughts?

This can has been kicked down the road by both parties for so long they've got a huge, possibly unsolvable problem on their hands. With the interest payments what they are, I don't see how it could possibly ever be balanced again

Paul has influence. My issue with him is his rhetoric and his votes are not the same.

Massie, I like. I have more hope about him than anyone since Amash.

First I have heard of Warren Davidson.

RP talks a good game but rarely stands his ground for long. TM just votes no or doesn't vote so he's pretty ineffective, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt though. I don't know much about WD.

Problem is 3 votes out of 500 or so in Congress is not enough to get anything done. You need a lot more than that. There's no Blue Dog Democrats anymore. All I can say is "Republicans are the lesser of the evils" but neither party is fiscally conservative

The Dems did put forth a law and Trump torpedoed it. In fairness it wasn't a very good law, but it was at least an attempt. It blows my mind that any gov agency has people with guns working without body cams.

The previous admin ignored the law just as much as this one and now the pendulum has swung the other way.

Until people start coming up with reasonable solutions that the majority of Americans agree with politicians will continue to use it for political gain. Hell, you have J.D Vance talking about excepting less legal migrants and folks don't even blink. Population growth is vital to a countries economy and Americans aren't exactly popping out kids like they used to. That said, we can't just open up the gate to everyone.

I don't think that's fair to RP. He went against his party in the most significant spending bill, the BBB. He voted against it because of fiscal concerns
