The Trump Effect

Your delusional. The economy is doing better than at any point during the Biden Administration.

I went to a local sports card show a week ago tomorrow and it was packed. The guy that runs it said they had record attendance around 400 attendees the best since starting the show 2 years ago and the dealers pretty much said record sales across the board. I went to Walmart afterward the parking lot packed. I filled up my tank and paid the lowest price in probably 3.5 years.

My local grocery has had a dozen eggs for $0.69 the last couple of weeks another store 30 miles away has them for $0.99. A gallon of Milk is down as well.
Ok. That doesnt mean its good. Ya gotta stop with the Biden Biden Biden stuff. The only thing worse than Biden is Trumps ability to function, speak coherently, and stay awake on camera.

Does that mean if prices go up on gas you will be here saying it isn’t Trumps fault?
Yes. You won't find a post anywhere in this forum at anytime where I have blamed a POTUS for high gas prices. I have stated a couple of times the President has very little to with it, and I stand by it. I have gotten an unsolicited tutorial from my older brother a couple of times over the years. He's a retired exec from ExxonMobil

he probably made bank working there

Made bank and didnt do real work (HR). LOL

Nice job BKG's brother....
That's not a typical HR job. It required both an MBA and J.D. Lots of hours and travel. One of his best buddies is Rex Tillerson. They sort of matriculated together in their career paths except that Rex made it all the way to the top of the food chain.

Yeah, we buy a whole pig and a 1/4 side of beef, and I filled 3 deer tags this year, so that certainly helps, but still the basics (to us) are out of control expensive.

I lived in Ohio once upon a time, I’m currently in western PA. My wife and I are both in healthcare and lived in the Tri Cities for around a decade, but once the healthcare system there was monopolized and our wages stagnated, it made sense for us to move somewhere with a comparable COL and considerably higher wages, so the Pittsburgh area fit that bill.
the variance in fuel costs always astonishes me. That is one area I know to be attributed to state and local governments.

If South Carolina can sell gas at $2.20 and make money, why is it $3.30 in Pa? I suspect Pa has $.75/gal in taxes more than SC. The rest may be market efficiencies like proximity to gulf refineries, but the bulk HAS to be taxes, doesn’t it?

Other energy costs, eg, utilities, I don’t know. Do you know if Pa has more stringent environmental regs than the SE? Govt taxing us into policy they prefer (“clean cars”, “sustainable housing”) kill the entry level buys and cripple the middle of the market.

Food? I don’t know. Groceries seem crazy.

I don’t know how young couples do it nowadays.

As to your first two paragraphs, it has a little to do with state taxes, but more to do with how distributors have decide to price, in conjunction with one another. There are discrepancies within deep red states as well. It's really all about supply/demand within a region and how and when the distributors set up blanket purchases for a future date. That's where the futures market plays into it. Where from, and frequency of deliveries plays heavily into it as well. All of our gasoline for vehicles ultimately comes from OPEC. That's why the domestic, "drill, drill, drill" narrative is somewhat uninformed.

I agree on the variance in gas prices. When I drive into Ohio it instantly drops $0.50.

No, actually we are the area of the country that has the highest % from coal fired plants. Also the biggest % of so called super-polluter plants, and not surprisingly the highest rate of adult onset asthma nation wide.

It's cute that they gave you talking points based on how bad the polls are, and that you dutifully parroted them
