The Sky is Not Falling, but There are Cracks

He's the reason it's out of the ditch right now, hombre. He goes 7-5 next year or 8-4 the next two years, then sure, can his ass.

That's true, but he has hit his ceiling. He was the right guy to calm the program and stop the bleeding, but he just has no fire to win at a high level. His high point is having our @$$e$ handed to us by OSU last year.

The Vol way is to do exactly what you're advocating, give the guy more time, let the program tank completely, THEN try and hire a coach.

Why not thank him for being the guy to right the ship, pay him a nice buyout, and get a new coach while the program is NOT in a dumpster?

Don't worry, your position will win. It always does. Then we will fire him in 2-3 years when we suck, STILL pay him a buyout, and hit the road for a new coach who wants a dumpster fire.

Hat tip to the Commodores; they played a great game. However, I hope that Heupel and Danny White recognize that losing to Vanderbilt in Neyland stadium, especially coupled with the squandered opportunities against UGA, OU, and Bama, is completely unacceptable. There has to be accountability for this loss and this team's inability to make the right plays in the big moments this season.

That being said, what the program needs are tweaks, not wholesale changes. An assistant or two, perhaps a coordinator, need to be replaced. I don't think elaboration is necessary there. This thing is a work in progress, and we have to remember both where we came from recently (the post-Fulmer dark age) and where we come from historically (a top program in college football). Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater...but definitely get rid of that bathwater though it's friggin nasty.

TL;DR version: Someone needs to be fired, but if you think that someone is Heupel you need to put down the bottle and step back from the ledge.
An assistant or two. How about Banks, Martinez, Halzle, Elerbee, and the WR coach to start the process. After that, a second look can be taken for whoever is left. The RB coach and RG should be safe but even RG may be losing his touch. His guys aren’t getting the push his guys got when he was in his prime.

lol at the ole hat tip to the commodore’s. The sky has shattered and landed on our heads, open your fn eyes. REGRESSION across the board, we have not improved in any stage of the game or position this year. Hell the only thing that has improved this year are the ****ing prices of everything. CJH, DW, and etc need to take a really hard look in the mirror and have some uncomfortable conversations. The seat is officially WARM.

Im not sure what your point was. I know tenn is not a good team, but let's not pretend vandy is better than a 7 win team without pavia.
You're one of those people that looka at the end result of 8-4, and never acknowledge the details of the games, so you can tell yourself that an 8-4 season is "ok".

So what? He won the lawsuit and played.

I've seen some reaches for coping but this is next level.
Why is this hard for you guys to understand? Vandy wins 7 games without Pavia. They needed a surprise ruling for him to play again and also for tenn to have a bad year. Its not like suddenly vandy is going to start ruling the series. They'll win 7 games next year too maybe. Tenn is one of the youngest in the conference. This is a BAD loss and Heupels outlook keeps getting worse, but the sky is NOT falling after this loss. Calling something a perfect storm is not coping.

The reason it starts to fall off for heupel after 4 to 5 years is that the defenses figure out/slow down the offense then, without elite defense you're screwed because they're asked to win the game. This is opposed to slowing down the other offense. He needs to recognize when this happens and adjust accordingly. His flaw is that he doesn't know how to adjust. This is kirby's biggest strength which is why they're legit every year. Of course having the thoroughbred is a must as well.

I understand fine; you are making excuses and huffing major copium.

If another team was making this argument you'd laugh at them.

Sadly, we don’t have one reporter that will ask Heupel the hard and uncomfortable questions. They throw the safe ole softball so that they don’t hurt Heupel’s feelings or cause dissension.

Another team:
"If tenn didnt have Aguilar, theyd be 5-7"
Me: "I agree."
So no, I wouldnt be. The difference is, Tenn has 5* commits at QB and Heupel does well with any QB.
Im not making excuses. Im trying to say "the sky isnt falling because vandy isnt going to keep winning 10 games - this is special year because of pavia"
That seems a pretty fair take. Are you suggesting vandy is going to start running the state from now on?

Heupel will never have that because he’s too worried about being the players buddy. Heupel doesn’t have their respect so they don’t play hard for him.

Hard to see myself playing hard for a coach that doesn’t hold the coaches under him accountable. Heupel has no standards. Not for personal grooming or fitness. Not for employees under him.
