You are living in the past. In 2025, not sniffing the playoffs is the same thing as finishing under .500.No 5-6 wins is on par with 5-6 wins. You’re not gonna try and gaslight me because y’all are emotional after a rough loss that a losing season is on par with an 8 win season.
It doesn't matter. If you can't beat at least one relevant team in a season, you are irrelevant.Hmmm, the teams we did lose to are either in the CFP or on the edge of getting in. Just where does Bama, GA, OK, or Vandy rank right now???????
Having an under .500 record is having an under .500 record. You are living in the past. In 2025, not sniffing the playoffs is the same thing as finishing under .500.
I do believe their success will change how players in the recruiting portal are viewed. They have taken seasoned grown mean and built with that versus raw young talent that may not be there in 2 years. It is interesting if anything. I'm curious to see, esp on def, if we will take a similar approach in the portal this upcoming season for depth purposes.Oldest team in SEC: Vandy
Youngest team in SEC: TN
Still, losing to Vandy is the beginning of the end for JH

To me, it's clear JH entire scheme works best when we run the ball and play good D. This year, we really didn't do either. This puts too much pressure on pass game to carry the water in every game. It's clear we missed our two best D players/DB's this year, but that was just the start of it. Lack of rotational talent in trenches...but that doesn't give Banks/JH a pass for just bad scheme and coaching. Though we were bad @ QB LY, and passing game as a whole, I absolutely loved it last year, knowing if we scored over 20 points, we were more than likely going to win. SEC is a gauntlett, and this year is case in point that you can have the highest scoring offense in the league, but if you're soft on D, you're a paper tiger, at best.Hat tip to the Commodores; they played a great game. However, I hope that Heupel and Danny White recognize that losing to Vanderbilt in Neyland stadium, especially coupled with the squandered opportunities against UGA, OU, and Bama, is completely unacceptable. There has to be accountability for this loss and this team's inability to make the right plays in the big moments this season.
That being said, what the program needs are tweaks, not wholesale changes. An assistant or two, perhaps a coordinator, need to be replaced. I don't think elaboration is necessary there. This thing is a work in progress, and we have to remember both where we came from recently (the post-Fulmer dark age) and where we come from historically (a top program in college football). Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater...but definitely get rid of that bathwater though it's friggin nasty.
TL;DR version: Someone needs to be fired, but if you think that someone is Heupel you need to put down the bottle and step back from the ledge.
